We always have a weekend in Zermatt in August and usually stay at the Riffelalp. This time we decided to try something new ... not something we will do again! My husband called on our way to inform the hotel at what time we would arrive for pick-up. When we got to Zermatt station there was no-one there. He called again and was told that the driver was on his way. So we waited ... and waited... until our three-year-old simply couldn't wait anymore and off we went lugging our luggage through Zermatt. Half-way to the hotel the called to ask us where we were! Arriving at the hotel is very impressive and, as others have mentioned, you get to the reception through a very James Bond-esque entrance. At the reception, the very nice lady, Lise, who apologised for the lack of shuttle. We were offered a glass of wine at check in and we thought that it was just an oversight - mistakes happen. The next morning we were woken by someone yelling into a microphone - there was a marathon on in the village that we were unaware of and they served as a 6am alarm clock. Sadly, even though I'm unsure that it would have made a huge difference as the hotel is not well insulated, the cleaning lady had left our window slightly ajar the night before and the man yelling may as well have been in our room:-( Our suite was very nice with everything we needed but the bed was quite uncomfortable. They provided a very sweet futon for my daughter which was appreciated. The breakfast buffet was small but the quality of the food very good. Our eggs were over-cooked on the first day so we didn't bother on the second day. They did have a very good champagne for those who wanted which was a nice touch. I can't comment on the spa as we didn't use it but the pool was pleasant. Room service was good but not the wine choice. We requested the restaurant menu for a wider choice. Unfortunately, half bottles are not available and by the glass is limited and expensive. On the second day we went for a long walk and afterwards called to ask if the shuttle could pick us up - no, again. On leaving we triple checked and called to make sure that they could bring us to the station to catch our train!! Architecturally speaking, the hotel is attractive but not quite a 5 star yet. We will be returning to our trusty Riffelalp next time!

Dear Member of Tripadvisor

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and the few compliments here on tripadvisor.

I apologize that your stay was marred by a rocky start when we could not pick you up as swiftly as you would have desired. Unfortunately our electric car was delayed by a few minutes because of the preparation and the setup of the ultrack marathon infrastucture on the church square and the late departure of one of our valued guests. Indeed that delay was unfortunate but sadly beyond our control, the ultrack attracting hundreds of athletes. Just for your information, we would have gladly picked you up at the second occasion to make up for the incident upon your arrival but we are simply not authorised to do so due to the municipal legislation. In fact, all hotels may only transport their guests to and from the trainstation and the taxistand at the entrance of Zermatt. All visitors understand this regulation because Zermatt would loose its picturesque cachet if there were more cars shuttling visitors back and forth. Please rest assured that we endeavor to be of service wherever and whenever we possibly can.

As for the early wake up, you are referring to the start of the marathon the following day. Even though Zermatt enjoys beauty and calm, there are also many festive activities among which that said marathon. I am a bit surprised that you would think that we have some degree of responsibility therein referring to the noiselevel. Evidently I regret that the start of the marathon has interrupted your sweet dreams and I regret even more that you give us this low rate on this very site.

When you departed from The Omnia, you said that everything was fine and now I am a bit puzzled to read your vendetta. Never mind, we bite the bullet but I will ensure to tell the General Manager of your favorite resort in Zermatt to divert any potential festive manifestation from it whenever you are staying there.

I am at your disposal for any further feedback. You can reach me anytime at ph.clarinval@the-omnia.com

This hotel exceeded our expectations. I recommend it to most everyone and will return myself.

Location: the location is quite central. The hotel entrance is just diagonal from the main square / church. If you are skiing, you could be closer to a lift (eg Cervo is closer to Sunegga; Zerbriggen's place is closer to the Matterhorn gondola), but Omnia is central to everything. Also, the hotel is situated up the valley wall slightly, meaning more sun. By dint of a very James Bond elevator, access is still convenient, via the main street.

Design: the hotel provides the amenities of a Grand Hotel without looking 19th century. The design is contemporary -- some Nordic notes of blonde wood and rough stone, lots of glass and steel. There is enough wood and leather to soften the tone, and for me, it was beautiful.

Service: the staff was terrific. They were attentive without being intrusive. By the second day, they were confirming that I wanted cappuccino with breakfast and by the third day, they we're bring exactly two of them to me at each breakfast. The tone of the hotel is relaxed, but the service is crisp.

We stayed in an Omnia Tower suite, great views 180' with a nice view of the Matterhorn.
Entrance is like something from Batman, along a 'cave like' corridor to an elevator that takes you upto Reception.
Lovely staff, Tamara, Sara & Carina, friendly, very helpful and considerate. The porters are friendly and helpful too. All the fittings in the hotel and your suite are quality are very modern. Two bathrooms in the suites too, useful for extra guests. The hotel has good views over Zermatt and you are onto the main street in seconds, also straight onto the trails.
A 40 minute walk upto Eidelweiss, a small cafe/restaurant is a nice walk, straight from the hotel reception.
The pool and spa area is very cool and looks brand new.
The hotel manager Philippe works hard to make sure everything runs smoothly and the whole staff seem genuinely comitted to making your stay a great experience and make you feel at home.

Room Tip: Get a high floor for the best views though all seem to have decent views. Church bells atart at 6,4...

Just left a week long stay at the Omnia with my family and it is simply fantastic. The beautiful rooms and setting, the warm and gracious service, the delicious breakfast buffet, outdoor jacuzzi looking at the Matterhorn, beautifully stocked library of art books, I could go on and on. Congratulations to the management and every single staff person we interacted with, you have built a wonderful place for people to savor a holiday in style. We can't wait to return!

Room Tip: We stayed in several rooms, all lovely. View of village is charming.

Arriving was a joy! Our daughter gasped 'WOW' as we entered the rock into what she described as 'very James Bond'!!! The hotel is wonderful in every way, our stunning Omnia III suite has incredible views. Initially we came to see The Matterhorn and relax in a wonderful hotel...next time we will be coming to just BE at The Omnia! The restaurant, food and wine was excellent, our daughter loved the pool and hot tub. We were looked after so well by everyone. The team of people at The Omnia are brilliant, very friendly and just lovely people...a massive part of the fun and the experience we had. We will be back as soon as we can! Thank you for a smashing stay.

The Omnia hotel in Zermatt is fantastic in every respect; location, physical beauty; exemplary service! The architecture is an amazing feat, nestled into the mountainside with a James Bond entry through the rock. This is a place you will certainly want to experience and won't want to leave. The amenities are top notch and the staff anticipates your every need and can't do enough for you. We will definitely recommend to our friends and will return.

In the quaint town of Zermatt the Omnia stands out from the rest because of it's clean modern design, yet warm and inviting feel. Upon arrival, we were greeted graciously and the staff remained very helpful and attentive throughout our stay. The rooms are of a high standard with simple and natural decor, (lot's of wood and stone) that creates a unique mountain experience. The breakfast was superb with many things to choose from. If there was one thing that they could consider, it would be the spa area and layout. The main pool unfortunately was very cold considering the temperature outside, and remained empty the entire time I was there. Also, I felt the jacuzzi was not up to the standard of the hotel. Overall an excellent experience and I would highly recommend a visit!
