“The new standard of service”
Reviewed 7 November 2010

I don't really think that there are adequate words to describe our experience at this hotel. The service was simply the best we've experienced anywhere in the world. The breakfast was outstanding and no request was too much for them. All of the team made suggestions and offered information and services we would never have thought to request - a small sample:

- pick up at the train station (not unique but was unique in that they were on time and waiting for us)
- employee noticed I was sitting in the lobby with my camera waiting for a sunset shot of the Matterhorn and he pointed out that if I was interested the sunset glow was already on the highest peak but down the valley
- relaxing classical music was turned on in the room when we arrived with mood lighting that helped us relax
- delivered our luggage the train station after our stay to meet us getting off of the Gornergrat train

Many, many others - too numerous to list here.

Just go!

I loved the hotel and enjoyed the mostly very good service, would also recommend it to everyone who would like to experience something different from the usual chalet-like style of the mountain ressort hotels. The only disappointment was the actual SPA part of the whole:

1) Amazingly looking Caldarium, Turkish bath and steam bath have some major construction issue: hot water is dropping from the sealings on you all the time. It is more or less survivable in Turkish bath and the steam bath, but completely impossible to bear with in Caldarium. The water drops are so hot that it really hearts.

2) The massage lady is very good and does a perfect job, but... only if she is available and in-house, which is not that often. As a result you as a gast have to adjust your day schedule to get a massage, if at all. I was very surprised to hear that as in the rest of the world they already learned how to arrange the whole to make sure a guest wishes a pricy treatment, he or she also gets that, even if this requires having arrangements with many massage specialists.

This is a truly outstanding hotel. Room P was large with a separate shower and large bath. The view from the balcony over the town of Zermatt was wonderful. We were impressed with the service from the team at the reception including Olivier who did an excellent job of making us feel welcome and comfortable and answered all of our questions about the facilities in the hotel and the sightseeing opportunities in the area surrounding Zermatt. Because the hotel has only 26 rooms named for the letters of the alphabet, the feeling of personalized service is everywhere. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent both in quality of food and service. We think this must be the best in Zermatt!

I have no words to describe this marvelous place. It starts from the train station where we were picked up in about 2 minutes by the hotel's electric car . After a short drive we reached James Bond's carved in rock entrance-that's how I named it-and from this point you take the elevator to the lobby. We were welcomed by the very nice lady at the reception ,she did know our name from the moment we entered and after a short guided visit of the public areas (absolutely fantastic) ,she took us to our room.
The number was "U" and that means high floor ,stunning views of Zermatt and the mountains .The room was big ,huge bathroom with tub and separate shower ,all furnitures and appliances new ,Bang & Olufsen TV and sound system, best interior design I can imagine. All the hotel is built on a rock and has a very special and unique architecture.
Breakfast-just great ,best products ,you got almost anything you can ask (including made to order all kinds of eggs) and all served in their beautiful decorated restaurant .
The pool and jacuzzi area is fantastic, you can lie on the chaise longue or dip into the outdoor heated jacuzzi and admire the mountains around.
The only negative is the mattress which is made from some kind of foam that takes the shape of the body (I know is a very expensive kind) but is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE and we had a real problem with sleeping .
All the rest is just perfect.

I simply have to write this review while we are still here. Am sitting on the sheep skin covered chairs on our terrasse overlooking Zermatt with my 9 year old daughter who - like her two brothers (12 & 4) - have been fortunate to travel the World. And she agrees: this is on our top 3 list of hotels were everything comes in place. Extraordinary architecture and design, nice staff that are friendly with adults and kids, top location, nice and warm spa, 2 min walk and you are in the Dorf, delicious breakfast (unbeatable bircher müsli!), coolest kids futon we have ever seen (and we did lactually ive in Japan), Kiehl's products in the bathroom, und so weiter. Believe me this is extraodinary. We have to come back sometime....

We were greeted on arrival by delightful staff, our room was perfect. We enjoyed drinks after dinner, sitting on our balcony on sheepskin covered chairs and looking out over the twinkling lights of Zermatt under a full moon. This was only a short visit as a birthday surprise and we very much look forward to staying there again.

From the moment you drive into the James Bond entrance you know this place is different.
The Architects had a lot of fun designing this place and it all comes together very well.
The room was huge, views spectacular and staff great.
You are in the centre of town but above the hustle and bustle.
Zermatt has no cars so we were picked up and dropped at the station by the hotel electric vehicle.
