Description: A house with history – witness to the lively comings and goings on the Zermatt main road since 1889. The variety of our cuisine is based on traditional and carefully chosen dishes: specialities from the valais region, raclette and a choice of fondue, our creative meat and fish dishes, pasta and delicious pizza from the wood-fired oven, round off the menu. To top off your meal, you can enjoy a choice of top regional and international wines .Restaurant with a view of the Bahnhofstrasse (main road), comfortable 'Pfisterstube' two terrasses and the rustic 'Raclettestube'

We visited Zermatt last week and on our last morning, wanted a simple lunch in the town before our train left. We went into Walliserkanne where the restaurant manager very grudgingly allowed us in ( the restaurant was far from full) and was then most put out that we politely asked to sit at a vacant table by the window rather than deep in the ( rather dark) restaurant. I tried to attract a waiter to obtain menus- we'd been sitting at the table for over 5 minutes by this time, being ignored. He replied with a very sarcastic " good morning madam" and then walked off again. A further 5 minutes elapsed with no menus so I got up and took some myself- still no reaction. By this time, 2 further families had come in and all been welcomed and served. At this point we walked out.

I have no idea what their problem was but I have never experienced such blatant rudeness. Their restaurant is dark and unwelcoming and their staff rude and ungracious. Don't touch it with a bargepole.

We had a delightful meal in this beautiful restaurant. Make sure to look at all the ceilings. We were in the back room with a gorgeous fresco on the ceiling where we ate.

Fish served uncooked twice
Refused to acknowledge and the arrogance was unbelievable
Go to the Molino Sielerhaus further along the Main Street as it's much better

We were tired and had already tried a few restaurants but they were all full.
This is a big commercial type of tourist place but they know what they are doing, efficient service.
We had their set menu and at CHF30 it is great value.
Can not fault the service or the food but not our favorite place in Zermatt.

Thank Marcus S
