Hotel Alpha-Palmiers
Ranked #14 of 46 Hotels in Lausanne
Reviewed 25 October 2012

I stayed several times at this hotel while travelling to lausanne for business. The hotel is near the Rail station (one minute) but is in a really quiet place. Everything is clean, staff really friendly. Breakfast good but really expensive! Has a nice restaurant, Business rooms, fitness, wifi...
rooms are very large, clean and the bathroom also very large and clean.
The parking is near the hotel (not owned by the hotel) is a little bit small and extreme expensive!!! take care if you stay more than 1 night. Near the hotel you can find a lot of food-bevarages
This is one of the most valuable hotel that I know in Lausanne, if you find it on booking.com for exemple you will not believe that for that price you will have such a nice hotel! good job!!!

My team has 4 rooms located on the second floor of the hotel, and the wifi connection is not working in each of our room for the whole week, and finally i tried to call to the receptionist to ask for somebody to check on it, and they keep telling me to select the ALPHA-PALMIER wifi connection, and i answered i did, and i know it required an extra click on the automatic directed page in the browser. And the reception said alright, they will be somebody coming to your room to check it. 15 mins later, i called and said nobody has come, and they ask me to do the same to connect to ALPHA-PALMIER connection, i then said i did again but it's not working. And again they said they will come to my room in 30 mins. I wait 30 mins, nobody comes, and i call again. this time is a rude lady, asking me to do the same, and when i explained i have try and there should be someone coming to check, she said: "So what!? you want person to come and look at the computer? the only way to do is connect on the connection, if it's not working, then try again! that's the only way! or you bring your laptop to the reception" Excellent :)

We stayed for one night and chose the hotel because of its proximity to the station. We were allocated a room on the 4th floor immediately opposite the lifts. This proved to be a real disadvantage as the rumbling noise they made as they went up and down was clearly audible in our room and made it difficult to get to sleep. The room was very large and the minimalist style of decoration ( one bright green swivel chair, a desk and chair and double bed with shelved headboard)made it seem barn like but at the same time very dreary. The bathroom was divided off from the room with frosted glass and the door did not close properly. Although the bathroom was clean there was a very large stain on the bedroom carpet. The breakfast was OK but not memorable. The staff were not particularly efficient, trying to charge us for something we had already paid for. Overall we found this hotel very disappointing and I would not rate it 4 star.

Room Tip: Don't have a room by the lifts.

I have been a "resident" of this hotel between May and June spending 4 nights a week almost every week. The hotel itself has a very interesting design with a small park in the middle and most of the rooms I stayed in were spacious with a nice view, either on the lake (far but still visible) or on the internal garden (which are my personal favourite). The beds look quite cheap with white metal bed legs showing, but I can assure you they are great to sleep in.
It has 2 good restaurants (French and Thai) a great gym with sauna and steambath and a great view from the highest floors.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, they make you feel at home.

Pseudo modern but actually sad.The rooms are refurbished and modern but there is something missing. Ok for a quick stop although it is close to the station and it is not so nice walking around late at night. Hot water was not working and one person of the reception said it would work in 10 minutes and then another said 30 minutes. Unfortunately the second person was right...

Location: great and 5 min away from the main metro station of Lausanne although there is a hill you have to take to reach the hotel. So if you have a lot of luggage, I recommend taking a taxi.

Room: we had 3 rooms on 2nd floor. There is no view to the city just the hotel area but it was very convenient for us. Pillows were very soft; you need extra pillow for your neck.

Cleaning: the room cleaning was good but bath towels are small

Breakfast: it is expensive in all Swiss hotels and separate from the room price. Anyway, there were 2 types of breakfast buffets. Continental buffet (15 CHF) per person which was regular such as (croissants, bread, jams and butter with coffee and juices) but it was enough for us. The other full buffet included few additional items which was expensive (25 CHF) per person and not worth it.

Hotel Staff: they were fine but there weren’t concierge service and we had to take our bags to the rooms. We asked for electricity adapter but they won’t send it to your room, you have to go to the reception to pick it up.

Others: you will find the tourism information office at the metro station which will guide you. Also, you will find a mini market available to buy food and drinks as u like.

Great location and very close to the train station, only a short walk up a steep hill. The room was spacious, modern, and beautiful. The bathroom was also very spacious. The staff were both friendly and helpful at giving directions. The breakfast was the best we had during our Europe trip and included tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and juice with breads, cheeses, cold meats, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, cereal, and sweets. It was probably the closest we had to a western buffet breakfast. One thing I loved about the hotel was the amount of natural light, the hotel was very tranquil with tall clear glass looking onto a beautiful garden. It reminded me of a chinese zen garden.
