“Perfect location + a delightful contemporary hotel”
Reviewed 14 June 2011

I chose this hotel when I was attending a conference at its elder sister hotel Beau - Rivage which is next door. When I looked at Trip Advisor it ticked all the boxes and was more reasonably priced.Having now stayed there I know I made the right decision. The Beau - Rivage is a huge and beautiful grand European hotel in the old style. The Angleterre is a collection of old smaller buildings that have been fully renovated in a very swish contemporary style. My room was on the ground floor and had a perfect view across the road to Lake Geneve.I loved the whole feel of the place and couldnt fault it.The hotel has an excellent italian restaurant that spills out on to the street for lunch and dinner under market umbrellas when the weather is fine.Breakfast is served in the same venue which was excellent and good value. This is a lovely hotel in a dreamy location - don't overlook it.I flew in from Singapore via London and Geneve where I picked up a train from the airport direct to Lausanne station.Just across the street is the metro which is five stops to Orchy - a few minutes walk from the hotel.High speed WiFi included for free.

Just returned from a four night business trip to Lausanne. Our company normally books at the Movenpick, but it was booked so they put me at the Angleterre instead. Based on my stay, I hope the Movenpick is booked when I head back next month!

I arrived around 9:30 am. on Sunday after an over-night flight. The front desk staff was not only welcoming, but immediately showed me to my room. You have to love that after a red eye.

I will say that the first room I was directed to was not lake view. And, since I had my confirmation print out in hand that said, "lake view" I was quickly shown to an alternative. The first room was very clean but small and pretty basic. The second room---AMAZING!

I was in a building that looked like a small chalet with a direct view to the gardens and lake. The room was absolutely immaculate.

Huge king bed with high qualitiy linens (though if you're allergic to down, you may want to check with them to see if they have synthetic available because the pillows and duvet were down). Very comfortable. Huge bathroom. Very good size closet. Comfortable sitting area and work desk.

And, the room was incredibly quiet. On day one the front desk brought roses and tulips to my room as well as welcome chocolate. Room service was extremely prompt each morning. Ate one dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was excellent. And the location....perfect for a quick tour of the area before meetings.

Yes, this is an expensive hotel. But in my experience, everything in Lausanne is expensive. So, if I have to spend the $$ I may as well be in an incredible property.

I hope to be back soon!

Stayed over several weeks in the Angleterre. Had always great experience with the reception, room service, employees at the breakfast.
Rooms can be very big, but depend strongly on the house (the hotel has 4 different houses). Breakfast is served on a nice terrasse just on the boarder of the lac leman and has a lot of options.
Would recommend this hotel to everyone also non business travellers, since the location is also very romantic.

We stayed three nights at the Angleterre, we organized our wedding there and the service was just great. Spacious rooms, friendly and helpful staff and a great location. The Ouchy area is a bit pricey but the metro is near and food is cheaper in the centre. The italian restaurant in the hotel is classy but with a matching price tag. The breakfast buffet there has most of what you could normally want for breakfast and I'd recommend going there at least once to try it. Otherwise there are shops nearby where you can buy baguettes or sandwiches for reasonable prices. I rated down the cleanliness only due to the family of spiders that greeted us in the bathroom, but the staff quickly removed them when we told them. There are notes on all windows asking guests to not open the windows due to insects getting in, so I suppose the previous guests did so anyway.

right next to the lake, fantastic view, very nice, cosy and calm hotel in the center of lausanne in an old but perfectly renovated building. good food, excellent wines, friendly staff and set in an outstanding town. lake geneva is one of the most beautiful and divine regions i've ever ever ever seen. don't miss it. also to recommend: hotel beau rivage lausanne palace, right next door, 5 star house. partner of hotel angleterre.

We stayed three nights in this hotel and found it to be first class. We had a lovely, well appointed room that overlooked the lake. We ate at the hotel restaurant most of the time as the menu was varied with really tasty meals. One night we dined next door at the Beau Rivage and the meal was supurb but very expensive. The staff throughout the hotel, reception, dining room and service were all extremely pleasant and helpful and this helps to make a holiday more enjoyable. Walking around the beautiful lake shore and the park area was relaxing and we were so pleased we decided to stay in Ouchy instead of Lausanne city.
