Hotel is just right next to the Delices metro. Very convenient. Clean and comfortable room. Free wifi. Spotless bathroom. Friendly receptionist. He told us he is new to the town. Free metro card! Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

I didn't try the breakfast as it was quite expensive 20chf. You can buy some pastries at Tea-Room le Romantica (Grancy metro station).

Following our rather disappointing stay back in December 2013, we stayed again for two nights at Nash Carlton at the beginning of February 2014. Once again, we did our booking with very little anticipation through a major Internet travel agency.

While we did not get such a good price deal as last time, I have seen a strong improvement in some aspects that I had critized in my previous review.

The good:

- First and foremost, there's free wi-fi now! The connection has a very good speed both in the common areas and in the room, and you get as many logins as you want (we got 3 upon asking for them at check-in, but I got more later without any problems). Kudos to the hotel's
Management for being receptive to customer feedback!

- Our room (106) was MUCH better than last time. It was bigger and -most important of all- it had no smell. The bathroom was bigger as well, and the shower had good pressure. Features like the towel-warmer make this hotel a better place (while others like the liquid soap/shampoo and the shower curtain are small negatives).

- Staff seemed to be more helpful than before. We even received some help to carry our bags and the baby-stroller through the front-door stairs.

The not-so-good:

- I guess nothing can be done about the stairs at the entrance, which turn this hotel into non-wheel chair friendly (and it makes things difficult if you carry a stroller and/or a lot of lugagge). But, as mentioned above, it always helps when you get a hand from the hotel's staff to bring in your belongings.

- Some things are still hard to understand. For instance, you can get a plug adapter on loan from the front desk, but only after depositing 12 CHF. I truly hope that the hotel's management will realize that this makes no sense.

In summary: at 140 usd per night, this stay was more expensive than the previous one, but the value that we got was far higher as well. At the time of booking, the alternatives we managed included Hotel du Port and hotel Au Lac, but Nash Carlton turned out to be a better deal.

Room Tip: Room 106 was very good!

very nice quiet place in the city for a relaxed drink and cigar break in this space of the hotel Carlton. Staff fussing in a natural and very pleasant surroundings. Highly recommended for type of occasion

The hotel is very close to the subway station. The reception is very charming. The rooms are rather old fashioned and should see some renovation, as the carpets are very used and the beds too soft.
The breakfast buffet is poor compared to the price of the room.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony, as the area is very calm.

We have visited Lausanne many times over the past 25 years and somehow we missed this jewel tucked away on Avenue de Cour which could not be in a better location. It was quiet, very clean and had a welcoming and helpful staff. This hotel is steps away from the Metro and just 2 blocks above Ouchy which is on the lake. When you check in and like most hotels in Lausanne, you receive a transportation pass for both the metro and local bus service. The Metro stop is next door and the bus stops in front of the hotel. The price, by Lausanne standards, was very reasonable. To balance this review with a negative you might want to pass on the breakfast which is at an additional cost and below par. Grab a croissant and coffee at any local coffee shop of which there are dozens.

A short metro ride from the train station and a 15 minute walk from the location this hotel is in an accessible but not prime location.

The rooms and hotel were fine but you could tell that at one point they were likely grand.

Still a good choice for a mid-range budget.

Positives-

-Staff very friendly and helpful.
-Room was spacious with good facilities.
-Room came with balcony from which I could (just) see lake Geneva in the distance.
-Both bedroom and bathroom was tidy and the bed was comfortable
-Parking outside was easy, convenient and free.
-Hotel is next to Metro station that will get you to the lake in 3-4- minutes, and into the entertainment district (shops, restaurants, bars) within 6-8.
-Metro tickets were given to us free-of-charge by the hotel.

Need Improvement-

-No milk for coffee. Usually wouldn't mention it but reading a few other reviews and they had the same problem. It's quite unfortunate when you rise in the morning, take a shower, make yourself a cup of coffee to sit out on the balcony with and... there's no milk for the coffee. Again, not a deal clincher but a few reviewers have had the problem so it would be good if the hotel could sort it out.
-State of the hotel was OK but could definitely do with a little tender loving care AKA maintenance.

All in all, good place to stay if you can't get a hotel on the waterfront (they are more expensive down there I think). I would recommend.
