The hotel was a great choice for our group of 6. We had 3 rooms with the lake view. We arrived before check-in, left our bags and headed for the city. When we returned, they had been taken them to our rooms.
The city center is conveniently reached from the small subway station less than 4 minutes from the hotel.
The hotel rooms and the hotel in general was well kept, and the bathrooms large enough. Breakfast was good.
Rather than being confined by the city, you get to experience the beauty of the lake, the mountains and the sky when you stay here.

The hotel was in a good position for the lake. The room was clean and well presented. The en suite was roomy, with a shower over the bath. There were lovely views across the road over the lake. There was no air conditioning but it didn't matter as the 2 windows opened wide and there was a fan if anyone needed it. We would have liked a kettle in the room.
There was a good continental breakfast provided. Dinner was also good, but cost a lot more than we would normally pay. Staff were helpful and spoke English.

Lausanne is on a steep hill and on many levels. Overall it was expensive. It was difficult to get a basic main meal for less than £50-£60 for two. However if you go up into town the self service cafe/restaurant on the top floor of the CO-OP was excellent at very reasonable prices. It also had an outdoor terrace overlooking the town. (Probably not open at night).
The gardens at the palace are worth a visit as well as the old town and the Olympic gardens along the lake. Transport is free once you book in to the hotels there.

I stayed here for a weekend to meet up with my daughter who was working in Lausanne. We chose this hotel because it was not too large and overlooked the lake. The room was plenty big enough with comfortable twin beds and a bathroom with a bath and shower over. It was pleasantly decorated and had free wifi. Our room overlooked the lake. I stayed in February, but I think the room, not having air conditioning, may have been too hot in the summer.

Breakfast was included in the price of the room and was a typical continental buffet style breakfast which was more than adequate, having cereals, fruit, meats and a small selection of cheese, croissants, jams and spreads etc.

The staff were very helpful at all times and I would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Nice and clean, friendly staff, but no air conditioning. It was quite hot at night, so had to sleep with the windows open. there was a small fan in the room. Bring your ear plugs to muffle the street noise.

I came many time to Lausanne for business in 2007, also once with family. This is where I liked staying most. Hotel is next to the lake, which is great for morning jogging or evening walk. It is a family run business with a lot of customer attention.
The restaurant is also good.

Great location, facing lake. We opted for a lake view room, which I would recommend. Restaurants are very expensive; we opted for takeaway. Found several places nearby with items such as chicken curry sandwiches, fish curry, great desserts, salads, wine. Coop is close and has reasonably priced wine and green salads with choices of dressings. We opened the windows and ate overlooking the lake. Beautiful setting, good takeaway options, and much less expensive than restaurants. Free metro pass makes it very convenient to get "up the hill" to the old town sights. With metro, convenient to train station, although you will have to purchase one way metro ticket to get down to the lake from the train station. Breakfast very nice in hotel restaurant. Good variety and high quality. Cappaccino available, very good. Computer available and free to hotel guests. Very nice staff. Oh, wonderful consignment store, primarily clothing, on street a couple of blocks uphill, to the left (they have a display window on Port St).

PROS
Great location. I wouldn't bother going back to Lausanne in a million years, but if I did, it's definitely better to stay by the Lake then in the old town.

Good breakfast included.

Helpful, friendly staff. English wasn't the greatest, but if you speak French you will be fine.

Clean, spacious rooms.

Pretty good English TV for Europe. We had 2 or 3 stations in English.

CONS
Very expensive for what the hotel is. However, everything is overpriced in Lausanne.

No air conditioning. We were EXTREMELY hot travelling there in August.

On a side note, I should mention that if you are travelling to Switzerland, DO NOT BOTHER with Lausanne. It is not nearly as nice and pretty as other Swiss towns. Also, there is little to do unless you speak FLUENT French.
