We stayed one night following a concert at MJF. The hotel is right on the promenade making the outdoor restaurant pleasantly quiet. The food was good, although the waitress did seem to forget we existed towards the end ofmthe meal. Room was ok, but the main AC unit was not working and wenhad a portable one which was very noisy and not overly effective. Breakfast was average. Altogether we got what we expected for the price - this is not a hidden gem, but worthy of consideration.

I am a reasonable reviewer and understand not all things are as they seem in the world of hotels, especially in the cut throat world of the Montreux jazz festival period when hotels put prices up and its busy etc. Notwithstanding the 1000 francs for 2 over the montreux weekend which one will swallow as being used to Swiss prices, you do expect the hotel to be somewhat similar to the star rating.
Was it? errrrr no, and its certainly not shabby chic more tragic and worth avoiding.
Reception, rude defined as, oh who are you then,,,,, heres a key ... thanks...
Question. heres my luggage, you are 4 star and I am paying a 1000, any chance of having it taken to the room..... Errrrr you could take it yourself..
Bedrooms - Old beds dipping with so much sitting on the edges ie not a restful night sleep unless you like the rolling onto the floor game in the night. Overall room quality. rubbish
The food is average and expensive v other eateries but they try to incentivise with a 10% off voucher.
The Pool and outdoor area are old and over run by people so there is no rest and relaxation unless you like rubber inflatables in your face
All in all I would seriously avoid. Although not in such a great location the Golf Rene hotel beat this hands down for the staff who make it miles more accomodating.
The Spa and gym.. Really? no its more a running machine located in splendid isolation like a piece of modern art and a Spa (well that must have been the referring to the term Spa in Roman times).
Not to be visited spend elsewhere.

Location is fabulous. Views from the room balcony was superb. Room was very clean.Public areas do need a little attention. Park in the Forum Centre across the road. Lovely spot and great for anyone staying for the Jazz Festival.

Room Tip: Buy lakeside, the city side rooms are very noisy.

So I was a little worried when reading other reviews. Seriously guys this hotel is a very good piece of property.

Did you know Roger Glovel wrote the words to smoke on the water in the restaurant adjacent to the hotel?
The hotel was great. Great view over looking the amazing alps. Quiet area, easy to walk to the chillon , especially when the walk is as bliss as the one right on lake geneva. Beds were comfortable, service was second to none.
Those who are complaining about the old fashioned rooms and need to get with the times and are clearly spending too much time in there room. This hotell was a great pick. Sometimes I wonder if trip advisor reviewers really think they are professional real estate agents pin pointing all Its negatives and not giving any positives.

Overall 4/5 for what I got. Btw freddie mercury statue is 1 minute walk :)

I would describe this hotel as "shabby chic", a little dated but in a charming way. Although a bit worn, very elegant, clean and comfortable. We had a room on the top floor overlooking the lake, really a stunning view. The hotel grounds and pool are very well kept, staff is attentive. The breakfast buffet is superb. On first look it may seem costly for breakfast (23sfr), but get used to it, food in Switzerland is very expensive everywhere.... Loved walking along the lake, swimming in the lake with the swans nearby. We would love to come back and stay longer....the hotel's location in town and on the lake could not have been better.

Room Tip: Top floors, lake view
