“What a view!!!”
Reviewed 18 August 2014

The first and striking thing about the Eurotel Mentreux is the view you get from practically 2/3rds of the hotel. Facing the stunningly beautiful Lake Geneva, it is easily one of the tallest buildings, offering a stunning view of the kale and the mountains beyond. Despite the fact that the weather was grey and cloudy, the hotel staff made us comfortable with a relatively quick check in. The restaurant right in front of the reception offers a panoramic view of the lake, with an Al Fresco area as well, thought for some strange reason, they didn't seem to have service there when we went. Watching the sun set (at a late 9 PM) is a highlight that shouldn't be missed.

The hotel is on the main road, though from the station, you'd have to come down a flight of steep steps to access the road, which with luggage may be a bit tricky. Thankfully, climbing up has an elevator. There are a bunch of boutique stores that line the road, which are fun for some shopping/window shopping. Lining the other side is the boulevard around the lake which is a delight for both walkers and watchers. Watching the boats come and go, are one of the highlights of this location. The ferry to Chillon castle is walk-able from the hotel- a must do for history buffs.

Coming to the rooms, we were upgraded to rooms with balconies, which faced out towards the lake. They are quite big, though the bathrooms are quite small.

Breakfast at the hotel is quite sumptuous; there are cheeky sparrows who try to get into the restaurant which add to the morning hustle. Thankfully they have a 24 hour restaurant, which helps with weird check in timings.

As in most hotels in Switzerland, eating at the restaurant is expensive, so be prepared for it. Another option would be to step out and try some of the cafes closer to the station or to try the Co-Op super market which is closer by for some DIY options.

Room Tip: Choose for a room with a balcony... even if it costs more, it's so worth it.

Good location. The room was spacious and overlooking the sea (as all rooms in this hotel). The negative issue is related to the elevators - small and take too long to arrive. Staff at the front desk very kind.

I was in Montreux for second time for conference. I decided to select Eurotel Riviera hotel partially based on trip advisor rating, partially based on my observation from last year when I was in Montreux for the first time. The main reason why I changed hotel is desribed in my first review from Montreux.
The major advantage and unique sellling point of this hotel is that all rooms, (with or without balcony) have the lake view. The higher you are the more beuatiful the view is (I was lucky I had room without balcony on the16th floor) and the view was terrific.
Prices for rooms are little bit higher for touristic hotel category but they are compensated by great location and dedicated staff. Room equipment correspond to touristic hotel category (Eurotel was previously in the Best Western hotel chain) and would require some investments.
Regarding meal and restaurant I can comment only breakfasts. Restaurant has a lake view and you can sit indoor or on the terrace. Breakfast menu is standard no bells and whistles, which I find very practical as I can make decision very quickly what to select.
Practical is wifi everywhere with no charge during whole stay. In addition you can use desktop in a lobby again no charge required.
Overall impression is very good and I felt there very comfortable and relaxed. I could recommend this hotel. Disclaimer for people who are used to Hyatt and similar category of hotels this one may not satisfy their requirements.

Room Tip: The higher room is the better view you have, 16th floor is good enough

Although we were staying in a recently refurbished room the experience was nothing special. The staff do the bare minimum and don't really seem much interested in what the guest may think. There are better options in this price range.

A skyscraper hotel which is centrally located on the Grand Rue. The public areas of the hotel (lobby, restaurant) have been upgraded but the accommodation floors (at least the one we were on) are tired and dated. The hotel handles a lot of tour groups so things are congested when they are coming/going. There are 2 small, antiquated lifts which are inadequate in peak times-timing is everything when it comes to using them.
We had a double classic room on the 12th floor -it was a corner room with a difficult triangular shape and tired furnishings. Although it had a small balcony and a great view, the usable space in the room was limited and awkward. When we arrived the bathroom smelled of sewerage and we had to open all the windows to get rid of the smell.
The hotel has basement carparking for an extra fee which is valuable as parking around the hotel is difficult.
The hotel is not 4 star.

Room Tip: Avoid all corner rooms-higher floors with a lake view are recommended

We stayed one night during the Jazz festival and the view outside our window of the lake and festivities was amazing. The hotel is only steps away from the free concert stage and the food stalls and the lake. We also took a long walk to the Chillon Castle- definitely worth exploring. The room was a nice size and comfortable with a patio.

This is a nice hotel in a perfect location - very close to the train station with a fantastic view of Lake Geneva. I was on the 7th floor and couldn't complain at all about the view facing south/west. I rarely got any direct sun so I was able to enjoy the patio at any time during the day. (I was there in July and it was very hot that week).

If you go during the jazz festival, be warned that the walkway below is quite noisy until late in the morning. But if you close the windows/patio door, it shouldn't bother you too much.
