“Nice clean boutique hotel”
Reviewed 2 December 2013

Hotel is nice and clean although a bit dated as other reviewers have also mentioned. It is a good 25-30 mins walk from the train station. We got a triple room and were upgraded from city view to partial lake view which was nice. However, I would recommend one should pay extra and get the lake view room. In August it was fairly warm and with no a/c it became uncomfortable. We asked the front desk if we could get a portable fan and to our dismay we were told that all fans had already been given out. However, after a few minutes they did find a tower fan which worked but did not oscillate so could blow air in one direction only. So one of us was left out feeling warm all night. Would suggest asking for a portable fan as soon as you check-in if staying in summer months. One other thing to keep in mind is that with the windows open you do hear the noise of the passing trains.
The breakfast buffet was good and filling.
The shower stall in the bathroom is a bit small and the door appeared not to close properly. Complained to the front desk and they promptly sent maintenance to take a look however, the maintenance guy was a bit grumpy and did not do anything, mumbled in french and left. So, the bathroom floor was left with a pool of water.
Overall stay was decent but will consider trying another hotel if staying in this city again.

Room Tip: Get a room with balcony and lake-view

We stayed here for just 1 night en route to France. It was off peak and Montreux was very quiet. The hotel itself is located about a 10 minute walk away from the majority of restaurants and stores. Upon check in the girl on reception was extremely friendly. She checked us in with no fuss & gave us a few different recommendations for places to eat downtown. The room was spacious but was very dated, although it was clean it was definitely a long time since it was decorated and could do with some modernisation. The view over Lake Geneva from the balcony in the morning was fabulous. As we were leaving early ate breakfast in the hotel but was very disappointed, it was a poor selection, mainly breads with cold meats & cheeses as well as a small choice of cooked eggs & bacon. Our error was having breakfast here but our bigger error was not realising this wasn't included in the cost of the room and was actually about E16 per person. The room rate was CHF139.50 which is approximately E120 at todays rate which is quite steep for an average, dated hotel never mind not including breakfast in this. I don't think I would stay again mainly because it's simply not worth it.

I´ve stayed at this ¨4 star¨ hotel many times over the last 15 years. All the rooms facing the lake have spectacular views of Lake Geneva (Lac Leman). Even though this is a very old hotel, all of the bathrooms have been redone and modernized; some rooms are more spacious than others (rare in Europe); the breakfast is quite complete and the food served over lunch and/or dinner is very good (I especially recommend the ¨filets de perche¨ which is a specialty of the region). The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. However, the carpet in many of the rooms is stained and worn out while the carpet in other rooms may be impeccable. The floors squeak either way. The staff is friendly but you may get a hotel management school trainee/intern that many not speak French or English well and that would lack the knowledge, skill or experience to give you a ¨4 star¨ hotel treatment every now and then. No doorman but helpful staff that would take your luggage to your room if required. The lake views make it all worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake side room.

Stayed at this hotel October 2013. We had a lovely Lake view room, which was spacious extremely clean. The room was dated with no air-con but luckily good sleep with french door open. There in lies the problem as in other reviews rooms at the front are next to a very busy train line with trains running throughout the night so I could not imagine sleeping very well there. The food was of high quality though not huge quantity and the staff were fairly polite and professional in their duties. The reception staff were excellent and helpful with information around Montreux,

Room Tip: Only take lake facing views or you will be sorry

Very nice and helpful people at the front office. No bellman and limited other services. Rooms are old but lake view rooms have spectacular views.Small towels and tiny soaps and like most hotels in Europe a single sink with small vanity area.
Breakfast was excellent and the breakfast room was one of the nicest I have ever seen.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a lakeside room as it blocks out the nooise from the trains and has a great view...

Stayed here for 5 nights in mid September and have to say first of all that I loved this area! Wish I could have spent another week in this local.
The hotel is located directly on the the lake, and the views from our (tiny) lakeview balcony, as well as from the front veranda and breakfast room were breathtaking. The much reported train noise was not a problem, as we were facing the lake. The trains in Switzerland are all very modern, and the sound is like a swishing sound, no loud whistes or clanging. Walking into the center of Montreux was a quick 10 minute walk along the beautiful promenade, and there is also a bus across the street with service every 10 minutes.
Our room and bathroom were on the small side, and a little dated. The bed was just ok, but i wish everyone had the Westin Heavenly beds! The breakfast could use a bit more work with the presentation and fresher ingredients, but the coffee was good and plentiful. The public areas of the hotel were very nice, with a pretty spacious lobby/sitting area and a large sunny veranda.
We found the staff in general to be very good. In particular we found Yana at the front desk to be very helpful, and she definitely went above and beyond expectations. Evelyn was also very helpful.
We would return to this hotel again, and found it to be good value.

Room Tip: Definitely pay for the waterfront rooms.

I vitales on the hotel during my visit to Montreux, the hotel is very well located and confortable but not súbita le if you are traveling with small children. My expectativo s for the meals ( dinner and breakfast) were Higuera since i expected better for a 4 stars hotel. The service at the reception not very qualified or perhaps just bad luck that the system went off when doing the check out.
