Went here on a Friday evening as had heard great things. View is nice (although obstructed somewhat by trees), but that’s about it. Menu choice is limited. Pasta overly creamy and not enough prawns, veal piccata greasy, burrata dry and wine by the glass choices very limited. Service was also average at best, at times verging on rude. This place does not deserve its number one rating. Perhaps the rating has been inflated by overly loyal locals...

Situated high over Lake Zug, with a beautiful terrace if only the weather had allowed, we ate inside. Beautiful old building, but modern and excellent service. Menus in German and Italian with English available when requested. We all chose different dishes, which were nicely served at the same time despite our party size of 7 and the restaurant being busy. Good food, though the men thought their portions a little small, and I had the opposite problem! Good and generous parking outside the restaurant, nice and clean loos. Worth a visit.

Upon our arrival, the Chef welcomed us personally and allowed a glimpse into the kitchen, where we spotted the freshly cleaned chanterelles and enjoyed the delicious flavours in the air. His wife warmly welcomed us, and based on what we had seen in the kitchen we decided to go for the menu.

Highlights were the homemade Foccacia, the Bresaola with avocado tartare, and the sea bass. The tagliolini with chanterelles suffered a bit from the bitterness of the mushrooms, and the Tiramisu was rather on the sweeter end for my personal taste.

The service was very friendly and attentive the entire evening, so definitely a place to return to in the future for us.

Thank AJ T
