My friend and I ate at the Restaurant Opera twice. Perhaps that is all any one needs to know that we found the food exceptional, the service friendly, accommodating (I have an allergy to peanuts), efficient, and very knowledgeable about the wine and food. The first night my friend had fried whitefish fillet of Swiss wild stock, potato rosemary waffle, sautéed chanterelles, and vegetables tower. The fried fillet is not what many Americans would consider fried, it was not battered dipped, it was more sautéed. My friend said it was delicious. I had lamb rack that is presented on a hot stone. It comes cooked but if it is not cooked enough for you leave it on this hot stone that sizzles and crackles and it will cook to your liking. The meat was tender and very tasty as was the rest of the dish. The second night my friend had the scallop dish and I had the fried sea bass and again the meal was absolutely delicious. We had dessert the second night and I had the Dark chocolate mousse of Zurich’s “Lindt“ chocolate and my friend had the Opera “Ambassad’Or” chocolate-mocca cake with pistachio ice cream. These desserts were heavenly. Above all was that we had an Opera one night that started at 7 so we wanted to eat early before they begin serving dinner. They accommodated us and we were able to order from the regular menu despite they serve dinner beginning at 6. For this I want to say many thanks and also thanks for two of the best meals we have had in our travels through Europe.
