i've been staying in several other places ( hotels and hostels) in zürich and this is definitely the best i have seen. last time i stayed in a tiny and rather dark room with a very small bed in the old town (my room was called 'kate bush') and i payed about the same. at the 'für Dich' the room was big, bright, had a double bed and even a balcony! plus the showers and toilet is shared with only two more rooms and not with the whole floor as in other places with shared facilities. i would absolutely recommend the 'für Dich' and i will definitely stay there again! the cafe downstairs is also a big plus, very relaxed and social atmosphere, very good food and drinks and sometimes they host small concerts or shows. you are in a central but not touristy part of town and using public transport you can get around really easy. i cant find any downsides, no - wait: the wooden floors are old and squeaky... ;)

Our accommodation at the Pension Furdich met our requirements, which were for a location reasonably convenient to the train station, but not too expensive. Our budget ruled out staying in the old town area, which would probably be both more convenient to the train station and more picturesque.

The Pension is upstairs from a cafe bar of the same name. Reception is at the cafe. The welcome was efficient if not warm and we were shown upstairs to the rooms. The rooms are divided between different apartments. Our apartment had 3 bedrooms which shared a common bathroom. The bathroom was very 70s but had everything required. The room was decorated in 70s style, had a great bed and plenty of hanging and luggage space. The bottled water and glasses were a nice touch.

Wifi was slow in the rooms but quick in the cafe/bar area. The apartment did have a kitchen but it appeared to be used mainly as a storage area so self-caterers should confirm availability of kitchen equipment. The cafe had a small range of light meals.

Light sleepers should bring ear plugs - the floors are very creaky so you can hear other occupants moving around. There is also road works going on outside the building at present which started work rather early in the morning

The Pension is easily accessible by tram or bus and the staff at both the rail station and the Pension were extremely helpful in determining which number line to take and which tickets to select (although the tickets are self-explanatory on the machines - the Swiss transport system is fabulous).

We would stay at the Pension again, but probably only for a stopover. If we wanted to see more of Zurich we would look harder for somewhere in the old town area.

We just stayed one night but it was very convenient and sweet. We will go back there if we were to go back to zurich. On top of that it is over a restaurant wich has nice tapas in the evening and an excellent sunday brunch !

Ideal if you're looking for a reasonably priced basic room in an apartment (hard to find in Zurich), complete with well-equipped kitchen, though only 1 bathroom/sink for 3 rooms. Conveniently located for public transport and close to a park and lively bars/restaurants, albeit in the red light district.
However, slight confusion (unresolved) regarding the booking when checking in ("weren't you supposed to arrive yesterday?") wasn't exactly a warm welcome, the balcony needed sweeping and we weren't warned about the construction work opposite. Room was stylishly furnished but the floor was very dusty and needed a good hoover. All the floorboards in this building are unbelievably loud and squeaky so be prepared for noise disturbance from other rooms and floors.
