I made this pit stop instead of having lunch. A very small cafe off a little alley in Altstadt - maybe 8 tables? Staff was very friendly and helpful. I think sometimes they have more food on special menu, but not the day I was there. Schoko-kaffee was perfect, and yes, I had cream on top - just lovely. Also had the ham-cheese-toast, which is a bit pricey for what it is, but it hit the spot and wasn't pretzel bread, so I can't complain. There's no music in the background, mostly families and small groups stopping for their midday coffee. They also have the bircher-muesli on the regular menu, which I noticed quite a few tables ordered, so assume it's good there. There are several cakes and pastries available, too. It's a light and bright space, with tall ceilings, and windows high and low. There are oil paintings for display/sale on the walls - also a bright touch. I stayed for an hour and never felt rushed, but it seemed like whenever someone left, someone else arrived to take the table. Don't just pass it by.....it's a nice little place, very welcoming, with a lot of your coffee (including liquor additions), tea, milk and soda options guaranteed to please the whole family. There are two little tables outside in the alley if it happens to be a nice day.
