On a one night stay for business, we were initially put off by the location not being within walking distance of town. However, once briefed on the tram service (tickets sold at concierge desk), we found it an easy place to base oneself in Zurich especially considering the high prices payable more centrally. Do not take a cab into town during peak hours (we paid > CHF 50!!), take the 15 min tram ride. Rooms were modern, clean and comfortable but not in the luxury class if that's what you're looking for. Staff were friendly and attentive and bar / restaurant area were good a pre-diner drink and breakfast respectively.

I stayed at this hotel from Friday March 14th till Sunday 16th. Amazing reception and felt really welcomed when while I did the paper work I had been offered a glass of champagne. But, for a 5 star hotel the internet is not included in the price of room. you have to pay extra 25 CHF in order to have internet in the room. Gentlemen this is so pre 2010. At the same time, they asked me 80 CHF to have breakfast with my room. I always say that to separate in a 5 star hotel the room price from the breakfast one is miserable. Anyway, the room was amazing. on 9th floor with excellent view. The design of the room was kind new to me but so convenient. Excellent sleeping quality and really good service. The first day I sat to the bar in the lobby, where the internet was free, and I had a burger for dinner. It was the worst burger I had in my life. So, no matter what are you doing please don't eat burgers there :-)

The hotel is located in the most vibrant area of the city. and it is something you can't get at first.

Overall, Renaissance Zurich tower is a great hotel with such an old school pricing policy.

Room Tip: Be aware of their pricing policy about internet or breakfast

Hotel was refurbished 2 or so years ago and it's shows when comparing the other hotel offerings nearby. Rooms are generous in size and pleasingly furnished and the bathrooms a good size and well appointed.
Staff on checkin and throughout my stay were always helpful.
Breakfast is fine but make sure you get to breakfast by the required time - I saw staff twice shut down the buffet area almost on the dot of the appointed time so sleepy heads will miss out. This is sort of important because the hotel is in a location that needs a bit of a walk to anything remotely like a cafe.
This hotel is materially better than anything nearby like Novotel and Ibis, both of which I checked out before checking in to the Renaissance.
Sightseeing is easy enough with the tram very close by and downtown Zurich only 10 or 15 mins by tram.
There's a great cinema complex nearby once you've exhausted the tv offering.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are likely to have a decent view but you'll have to be sure to ask - you don't...

OK, it's not bad. The rooms are OK, communal facilities struck me as being a bit limited. Service from the front desk was good.

I'm not sure if there is some big local attraction, but this hotel is in a bit of an odd location - not near the centre of Zurich, nor particularly well sited for the trams (but close to a rail station). Frankly, the surroundings are commercial, bordering on ugly, Not much they can do about that, I guess.

Check in was efficient and friendly. Breakfast buffet is well stocked, although they ran out of gluten free options on day two. Rooms are clean and well laid out. Fine for a business hotel. Not sure I would stay there if I was a tourist.

Stayed for just one night to attend a meeting at the hotel. The hotel is not too far from the airport and is located in an area that has seen somewhat of a redevelopment. Staff on arrival were attentive and efficient. I had a corner suite room which was excellent, wonderful bathroom, bed was simply awesome, lights everywhere to control and work out! Ordered a room service meal which was also excellent and came promptly. Breakfast choice was very good.
Although it is not right in the city center this would be a worthy choice if visiting Zurich.
