u can use it with your normal day ticket or buy a ticket only for a ride (CHF 1,2). it looks like a normal door, but after it there is a train going up the hill - liked it very much. quick and special.

i love this short cable car. it looks and behaves like the ones in the mountains (stoos, grimsel, pilatus, ...) but is just way shorter and in the center of zürich. you dont need a special ticket, its in the vbz-network, so any zürich ticket works.

Cross the Limmat River on the Bahnhof Bruche Bridge across from the train station. There is a red door for the tram. We wanted to take it up to the University, but unfortunately it was closed today. Was it b/c it was Saturday? I don't know. Even some students were surprised. Anyway we did walk up the colorful streets to the top. It wasn't a bad walk, really! It was a beautiful view overlooking the city rooftops and steeples from the plaza. Easier walk down on some comfortable stairs.

The polybahn is a very short ride - but what's not to like about a tram that takes you up the hill, that emerges from a normal-looking building and crosses the road? Do remember to walk a few more steps and stand at the front of the tram, if it's not raining.

Once you've got to the top, turn right and walk a bit to a platform with great view of the city.

Near the tram station central, just cross the road and you will see a red door! So what is behind it? It is a way up to the hill, a small tram to the University. Highly recommended, a great fun!
