NOT on the Sheraton Atlantis property - that is now a student residence. This is on the street down the hill from there. I know because I drove to the Sheraton and it was all dumpy now, like at typical student building.
As you may already know if you're looking at Zurich hotels, it's a pricey place to stay.
This place is out of the way (not in the town centre at all) and kinda in a funny area - apartments and townhouses around it. But it's somewhat reasonable price wise. Breakfast is good, rooms are decent, not great. Staff were nice.
But the problem here is that it's a good 9 tram stops from the centre of town. And if you walk back from the tram at night, it's dark all the way, not well lit at all. I had no reason to feel unsafe, but in an unfamiliar place it's not super fun to take a tram from a busy part of town to a part of town that is quiet and dark and then have to walk dark pathways to your hotel. The hotel's location is just somewhat odd for people who are tourists. But I guess that's what you get for trying to save money.
Zurich is a funny place in general. It's very expensive to stay in the old town, but the city itself just isn't all that great. You've got Lucerne and Interlaken not too far away, and both are way more scenic. Zurich is pretty and the old town is cool, but other European cities have all that (Munich, Prague, Innsbruck, etc) So really, the expensive places in Zurich old town aren't worth the money and the cheap-ish place way down the tram line isn't worth it either.
I guess what I'm trying to say is just go to a different city...
