“Convenient to airport and local tram”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

This hotel is very convenient to the airport if you just need a day to layover. We stayed here on our way to Johannesburg and on the way back to Chicago. The rate fluctuates and sometimes has breakfast included in the price. The breakfast is decent for a buffet style offering. There is not much close to the hotel to get breakfast cheaper. Get the breakfast inclusive package if it is reasonable we were in the $130 USD price range with breakfast one night. The beds are comfortable, but occupy much of the room space. Expect to pay about $40 USD per adult for a pretty basic dinner with a beer. If you know Zurich somewhat, you can catch the tram to the City Centre about 10 minutes away. You can use a debit card to buy your ticket or a credit card if you have a pin. The platform machine does not take cash. The Zurich transportation is based on zones. The cheapest zone will allow you to travel most of city center. I think that was zone 110, but may be wrong about that. Depending which tram you take, getting to the excellent Art Museum or the downtown requires no tram changes or one tram change. The unfortunate thing is that a lot of the information on the tram platforms is all in Swiss German and is very hard to understand if you don't know your stops ahead of time. There are usually two trams that stop at the stop nearest to the hotel--one of which gets you all the way downtown and the other needs a transfer depending on the day of the week. The tram is slower than the trains, but you get a great tour of the neighborhoods and local color. Depending how busy the front staff are, they may be very helpful in dealing with getting to the tram or not so helpful in busy times. This is a hotel that quite a few bus tours use and breakfast can be very busy as a result.

Stayed here for Ironman and for this it wasn't super convenient. However, if you're a budget traveller willing to use public transit then it's great. Clean, friendly staff, and ok sized room. The free airport shuttle was wonderful and saved a lot on a taxi.

The breakfast was just ok and seemed expensive until we went to town and saw the prices there. I coined a term on this trip: Züreasonable. A price that anywhere else in the world is outrageous but seems about right in Zürich. Breakfast was Züreasonable.

If staying for Ironman I would stay much closer to the race events. If staying for the city, this place is great!

Daer Chackett,
thank you very much for your feedback concerning your stay at our hotel. Compared to other towns it is definitely not the cheapest city but with lots of flair. For this city we are definitely "zureasonable". We hope to see you again and wish you all the best. Kind regards Natalia Prange & team

This is a great location if you want to go straight to the airport. The hotel does provide a free shuttle to and from the airport. We were hoping to have one last evening out in the old part of the city before heading home. However, beyond the transportation to the airport it is hard to get around unless you want to pay for a taxi for a 20 minute ride to and from a restaurant. The metro was a 5 to 10 minute walk and then a 20 minute ride into the old part of the city. The hotel is located in a business park and there were no options for dinner except the hotel. The food and the room were expensive compared to other hotels and restaurants we visited on our trip. Breakfast was not included.

The room was spotless, but small. We had to put our suitcases under our bed to walk around the room. We did not read the fine print and did not realize that we had to pay extra to take a shower. Even though it was convenient to the airport, it was not a good value for $139 Euros a night. It did not include a working shower. There were no restaurants nearby, and it was not accessible to the old part of Zurich.

Room Tip: If you want access to restaurants and the old part of Zurich this is not the place to stay. You are...

Dear janet l
Thanks a lot for your feedback.
Would you mind contacting me by e-mail on gisela.bolle@accor.com? There are some points in your review , that I don't understand.
Of course, our rooms are all equipped with modern showers and the use is not at all at any extra charge. The public transportation is at 50m from the hotel and brings you to the city centre in 20 minutes.
I would appreciate, if you could get in touch with me directly to clear these points.
Cordially,
Gisela Bolle & team

Being there for the Iron Man event and booking late, our choice was quite limited as most hotels were full and those still available were 200 euro per night and more.
The hotel and rooms were super clean as can be expected in Zwitserland, staff was friendly. It is a bit away from town but it is an airport hotel, so one must know what one wants. However, the S-bahn took us in no time to the city and lake and afterwards we regretted that we had not booked all of us in this hotel as the others have paid a fortune and still had to take public transport as well. It is a bit of a walk though to the S-bahn but we could have dropped the participants and their bikes at the station by car. In our hotel, we got a special week end rate.
They have free Wifi in the room.
It is hard for me to understand that a hotel has all the parking facilities but charges extra for it (18 Sw francs a day). Parking is a big problem in Zürich anyway.
On the other hand, they have a free shuttle up and down to the airport, but that was not much use to us.
We had asked for a quiet room and they have taken that into account, booking us at the end of the corridor.

Room Tip: As high as possible, at a corner.

We stayed one night as our flight was cancelled. Despite the rush the staff were helpful and the room was quite satisfactory. We didn't want to be here but as we had to the hotel did its job. A nice touch was the availability of a computer with printer to enable us to print our new boarding cards.

Having stayed at the Ibis in Geneva airport under similar circumstances the hotel is identical in layout and facilities.

The hotel is about 5km from the airport and the courtesy bus stops at 11:00 even if they have been sent a plane-load of passengers and they know others want to get there.

I stayed in this hotel and got my self booked from booking.com .i was looking for a ibis reputed hotel but trust me it was a total rip off it's far from the city journey takes u around 25-30 minutes that too u have to walk for 10 minutes in order to get the tram .i was surprised when I paid them in euros and they pay u back in Swiss franc lets say I booked a room for 80 euros and I paid them 100 euros there staff is so sharp they will give you 20 Swiss francs back yeah rooms u can hear all kind of noises other people who are in corridor bathrooms one can hear the noise from other bathrooms
The first thing in the morning I did was checked out from that hotel went to the main city got a nice hotel far better than ibis for much lesser amount and had all the fun otherwise I felt dead in ibis it lies in some industrial estate

Dear Zainshsh
Thanks a lot for your review. I am sorry, that you didn't enjoy your stay in our hotel.
It's true, that the ibis Zürich Messe Airport is located between the exhibition center and the airport. The city centre can be reached within 20 minutes by taking the bus (bus stop at 50m from the hotel) and the S-Bahn.
Please allow me to correct the point concerning the paiment method. As a modern and international hotel chain, ibis accepts many different credit cards and also bank notes in several foreign currencies. The change will always be correctly converted and then paid over in the only national currency, which is Swiss Francs.

With best regards
