This is not luxurious but it is comfortable. Don't expect fluffy towels!

The friendly receptionist showed us to our room, which was on level 3 of the annex to the hotel. It was small, with sloping roof, but had everything we needed - clean bathroom, safe, basic shampoo and body wash. The beds were a little hard but the doings were delightfully snug.

There is a laundry in the annex which is operated with tokens from reception.

The best thing is the location. It's just a little uphill from old town but this means that it's quiet while still being very central to Zurich's attractions.

The best about this hotel is it's great location - A short walk from both the train station and the major attractions. The staff is very friendly and they try their best to overcome language barriers. Breakfast is good and the rooms are comfortable. One rather strange thing is that the bed was set for a slight Trendelemburg positon (legs up about 15° or so), which made it a bit weird, I ended up sleeping backwards on my final night, but everything was perfect.

Would stay again if I visited Zurich once more.

Staying in the St. Josef hotel was a nice experience from start to end. Check-in was efficient and staff very friendly. It took some time to learn how to use the electronic door opening system with the card provided, but once having entered the room I found it excellent, lots of space and newly renovated. Everything nice and clean and working well. There was a mini-bar, but with no content. The reception provides drinks as needed, but why not fill something in the cabinet when it is there? The TV set had a wealth of channels in German, English, French, Italian and Arab languages. Very good! All in all the room was impeccable and fine for a business visit, but without any of the small extras you would look for if on holidays. Breakfast was fine, but again, just what was needed. The restaurant served very good food with a fairly good selection on the menu. Serving was efficient and staff friendly. When checking out I got good help and instructions how to use the train to the airport, and they even sold me the train ticket. An absolutely recommendable hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room. It gives more space and windows on two sides. Rooms facing the street are qui...

We stayed here in January and found the staff helpful although their English was at times difficult to understand. The rooms are of a good size and newly renovated. The location is excellent to visit the old town and lake. Very near good restaurants, train station and bars (all within a 10 in walk). It is far enough away to be quite but still handy to everything. The restaurant was closed so no comments there, however, the breakfast was very good. Would stay again.

We spent two nights in between Christmas and New Years. The hotel is an easy 15 min walk with luggage from the train station and a 5 to 10 minute walk to downtown Zurich. The room was quiet and comfortable. A typical European breakfast was included and good. Free Wifi as well. Would return the next time in town.

We stayed at Hotel St Josef during 20hr (overnight) layover from Malaga to NYC. After being shocked by the $64 cab ride (to go 7-10 minutes, that's double NYC prices), we were really happy with the hotel. It's in a great location, right in the heart of the Old City, shopping, restaurants and a 10 min walk down the river to Lake Zurich. It's in a picturesque area, the quaint side streets are fabulous to wander in the evening. We had delicious hot cherry wine with rum and candied almonds while strolling along the river. The hotel itself is immaculate (as is ALL of Zurich), everything is very modern and the beds were the most comfortable I've slept in in a hotel. We forgot an adapter to charge out phones and iPad (packed in checked luggage), and the hotel had extras to lend us. The also have a shuttle to the airport, $35 for 2ppl. Since we had to leave at 7am and breakfast didn't start until 7:30, they made us a brown-bag lunch (cheese sandwiches, fruit, drinks) to take with us (breakfast was included with our room price). I would highly recommend this hotel! They go that "extra-step" that is so rare to find anymore (and without us having to ask!!).

The Hotel St Josef is in an excellent location in the heart of the city. It is only a 10 minute walk from the main train station. While it is just off a main road through the city, it's position, set back from the road means the rooms are quiet.

The rooms were modern and clean. We visited in winter, when the temperatures were freezing outside, yet the indoors at the hotel the rooms were very warm and comfortable. We slept well and heard no noise from our neighbours or outside.

The breakfast was included in our room rate. While I have seen a more generous selection of produce on hotel buffets in the past, there was a good selection of continental food available (fresh meat, bread, cheese, eggs, cereals, yoghurts, fruit etc).

The reception staff were friendly and helpful.
