“Boutique Hotel in the centre of Zurich”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2013

Booked the Limmatblick Hotel for our stay in Zurich, selected the hotel for its location which is walking distance from the main train station and close the the city. Staff were warm and friendly, however once we got to the room it seemed smaller than what we had booked on the internet, we booked via a popular hotel booking site. After raising our complaint to the front desk, we were assisted by a friendly lady Tania who managed to move us up to their larger rooms, which was more in-line with what we booked online; the room had a great view of the lake. Our booking included breakfast, which consisted of a modest continental breakfast which was a great start to our day. Room had a fan which was great in Summer and made up for the fact that there is no AC in the room;it certainly helped when we kept the window closed through the night to mask the sound of the bars below, the rooms have double glazing so we heard virtually nothing.

Room Tip: Request room with view of the Lake

I stayed here since the hotel was the least expensive listed on a conference hotel list. This hotel is artsy and interesting, near a lot of restaurants and shops, plus it has its own bar. BUT, if it's hot, spend the money and book a 5 star hotel for air conditioning.

Yes, it's a North American travel need but you won't be able to sleep in Zurich on a hot night because the law apparently disallows a/c in hotels with less than 5 stars. So, you're already paying a lot of money and then you find out there is no a/c. Why does this matter at this hotel?

Well, the back rooms face the noisy restaurants, drunk people at 2am until 6am, and it's suffocating not to have the windows opened. The front room is somewhat better but still lots of noise.

Definitely choose this hotel if you're going on cooler months. Service was very good, very chill. Evening staff was more helpful than the morning staff. I really liked this place but the first few days in the heat were miserable. If you're there on business and need to sleep well, try to get a 5 star hotel.

Room Tip: Spend the extra for the front room with a balcony.

The room was very small. There was no air conditioning and the temperature was 92F. My husband and I slept with the windows wide open with no covers on. We were within 2 feet of the next building and could see the man next door brushing his teeth. Because the windows were open, the street noise and people at cafe's kept us up most of the night. It was way too expensive for the size of the room and no air conditioning. We spent 3 weeks in Switzerland and France - 8 hotels in all - and this was the worst.

Room Tip: Book in the winter.

Friendly helpful staff, but no AC in a heat wave made the room uncomfortable as one needed to open the (broken hinged) window to get air - and the hotel being surrounded by bars, did not quiet down until quite late. The breakfast was lovely; varied and tasty items. Yes, close to train station, river across the street, interesting shops nearby.

Room Tip: Front or back, you will have bar noise at night, since you will have open windows for air in the sum...

We stayed here for one night as we toured through zurich. The place is RIGHT near the main action and Old Town. So, if you want tranquil and quiet this place would not be a good fit. It is however, very convenient (one block from the train station, downtown and old town). Rooms are very nice. Good value for the quality of the room and location.

Hotel was very nice - clean, nice rooms, friendly staff.
Location is 10 minutes walk from the main railway station - view of the river and lots of shops, bars and restaurants nearby.
Breakfast buffet ok.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel in a double room. First of all, the biggest plus point for this hotel is this hotel is its location. Just located at a stone throw from the Zurich Main Station you can just take a train from the airport and drag your bags to the hotel. The rooms are nice, compact and efficient. Dont expect too many frills, though. I loved that little sit out our room had overlooking the Limmat river. The breakfast spread was good and had some good quality stuff. The 180 odd franks we paid per night may sound a little expensive by the standards of other cities. But this is Zurich, prices are crazy out here. Given that, I think we got a pretty good deal. The staff very friendly and helpful. The WLAN speeds were decent (both at the bar and rooms). All the major attractions in the city are just a short walk away (Opernhaus, Niederdorf, Lake etc). In addition the central tram stop is right outside the hotel. For those willing to splurge on taxis, they have one too outside the hotel. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel given its brilliant location and competitive pricing.

Room Tip: A couple of rooms in the first floor have a nice little sitout facing the river. Recommend that.
