EMA House is partnext to an apartment complex and the rooms are primarily "oversized" guest rooms / suites with separate work/living and sleeping areas.
Location if fairly good, within walking distance of Zurich Hauptbahnhof (main train station). The walk to the hotel is about 10-15 minutes uphill. One can also catch a tram and be there in less than 5 minutes as there is a stop right in front of this property.
Staff at check-in were very friendly, validating everything about my stay and providing me with an overview of the services / amenities. As my room was not 100% ready upon arrival, I was upgraded to a different room type. Size-wise, the room is extremely lareg by European standard. This particular unit also featured a kitchen between the living and sleeping area but use of it was not included in my rate. Given the price, this would be a somewhat affordable long-term stay option.
Everything in the room was in working order / well-maintained. Bathroon was also fairly nice with lots of space. the only thing that I found a little disappointing is that the decor is rather simplistic/basic - so the room although spacious also had that "no frills" feeling to it.
Internet is available but I found it to be quite unreliable on my smartphone (WIFI) (This was actually a problem throughout Europe as most hotels used the same service - SwissCom - which is extremely unstable, at least on a North American BlackBerry with WIFI enabled). Fortunately, there is a small meeting room with a computer which serves as a business center. It's not free but was afforable by Swiss standards.
The highpoint is the complimentary continental breakfast - delivered to your room! Most normal eatesr would have more than enough with the display of cold cuts, cheese, juice, hot drinks, yogourt, cereal, breads and spreads. I ordered (extra) scrambled eggs which was not necessary and overpriced. The breakfast was delivered on time (starts as early as 6:30) which was important as I needed to catch an early train.
The bed was not the most comfortable (thin, firm) but still provided me with a good night of sleep. The room provided did not offer any particular views of Zurich, which would probably the case with most rooms anyway as they are on lower floors.
The hotel is closed to the "old" and touristy part of Zurich
All in - highly recommended and tremendous value
