“very nice hotel and staff”
Reviewed 13 January 2014

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights during our family vacation. The hotel upgraded our room free of charge to accomendate the baby crib which was very nice.
hotel is at a nice location where you can walk to shopping streets and the lake.
breakfast is on the simple side but we are ok with it.

the only thing that bothers us a little bit is the small elevator, because the hotel was built long time ago so it's a bit awkward trying to fit baby stroller in it. overall a nice hotel.

Im glad that i stayed in that hotel. Just payed around 200 Euro for 2 people plus breakfast.
Many hotels in Zürich are overrated. When we arrived the service was very friendly, upgraded our room, gave us a check for 2 drinks at the bar for free. Also the parking is much more cheaper than the official parking (20 Franken instead of 45).
The room was clean and big enough. The walking distance to the City Center is around 10-15 min by walk. You can go easily by train as well.
We tried the room service, which came really fast with good quality.
We would come back again for sure!!!

After having been first shown to a tiny room that looked more like a children room (single bed, against a wall) i requested an upgrade to a queen bed room ( cost another chf60). While still not very big, the room was clean and nicely decorated. Ambassador is located near the lake, next to the opera and was evidently recently renovated with taste. Bed was ok, as was breakfast. Dinner at restaurant was pleasant while i was surprised with the very small offer of fish dishes, said to their speciality. Overall a fine option in Zurich.

Dear “Nick of Paris”.

We are delighted to read that you appreciated our location and that you enjoyed your dinner in our Restaurant Opera. Concerning your comment about the room size: Our boutique hotel is part of the former Uto-castle from 1898 and disposes over different room categories. Our reception would be pleased to help you to find your convenient category.

It would be great to welcome you soon back with us in Zurich!

Before we came to Zurich, my husband and I just came from 3 different hotels in 3 cities in 3 different countries in Europe. Each hotel we stayed in gave us different memories of the hospitality from their staff and the comfortability of the rooms and most of all the beds. We never expected that in Hotel Ambassador, we will have our best sleep and comfort. Their beds can be adjusted to the level of comfort you want and you can even request for the choice of pillows you want. It was something we really loved. It felt like home. The fragrance of the room and relaxing colors and decor made our stay truly wonderful and amazing.
The staff, Marie, in the front desk gave us a room upgrade when they saw that we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. They even put candles and red decorative roses by the window that overlook Lake Zurich. So sweet and romantic! The friendly and always smiling housekeeper,Anna, made sure our room was clean and orderly even the toilet, which I am very particular with. The toiletries were branded so I did not get to use my own.
My husband and I truly had an amazing stay. We were recharged and energized after the flights and train rides we had in 2 weeks before we came to Zurich.
There are too much to say about Zurich in our wonderful 5 days stay but that is another story.
We sure will be returning in this hotel.

Room Tip: Facing the lake on the upper floor

I stayed here for a few nights of luxury and the hotel lived up to my expectations.
The room was well equipped with everything that you would expect in this price category.
When the TV decided to break-down at 22:00 I feared that reception would say that nothing could be fixed until normal working hours. Fortunately they were able to send help - and the TV was quickly repaired.
I loved the evening turn-down service, with the chocolate.
If you get the opportunity - there is a great view of Zurich and the Lake from the roof-top terrace, but this terrace is seldom accessible.
A class act - and I look forwards to returning here again.

This is an older hotel that has been kept up fairly well, but it does show some signs of age. For instance, it wasn't possible to get real blackout curtains in the room, so sleeping in could be a concern if you're sensitive to light. We were on the 2nd (i.e. the US 3rd) floor and could easily hear traffic noise outside. The area is fairly quiet so this wasn't a real problem, but we didn't feel like the room was a real private retreat. Bathrooms were fine (recently remodeled) but not luxurious.

The hotel is quite expensive, and for that you get a wonderful location and very good rooms. It's a step below truly luxurious options in Zurich or elsewhere, but if you want to spend $500 per night instead of $900, it's a good choice.

I stayed here for one night only but loved it. I arrived in the morning from the US and was able to check in early -at 9 am which I really appreciated. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. My room was large enough, the bed was very comfortable and the wi-fi worked great. To be able to just walk around the corner and across the street to the lake, however, was the best part. The location can't be beat. I will definitely plan on returning next time I'm in Zurich.
