“Inspiring day out”

We are lucky enough to be able to visit Wisley on a regular basis and it remains a special treat with so much to see through the seasons..
The gardens have a beauty in every season - the herbaceous borders have been magnificent this year, and we have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Gunnera throwing off its winter wrapping and returning to its enormous best!
This is garden that encourages you to take a fresh look at "your patch" and experiment with colours and planting mixes. The staff are knowledgeable and very happy to offer advice.
We have only recently discovered the Hide but have spent many happy hours watching the numerous birds and small mammals that live around the water.
There are a number of cafes around the site to ensure you can refuel with a good variety of foods.
Hope you enjoy as much as we do!

Well where do I start? This garden is absolutely amazing! My in-laws has been so many times, they're always talking about it so I tagged a long with them just seen what fuss is all about - I was absolutely gobsmack - beautiful ground, variety flowering plants and trees! I would definitely recommend it if you're a garden lover - such an inspiration! Althought there's an entrance fee but it definitely worth the money.

“Great place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2012

This is a great place to visit if you have any interest at all in plant life. Well set out, plenty of space and great variety.

Having seen a good deal of what was on offer we visited the Library. This was probably the highlight!! Staff who could not be more helpful. We had made a short list of plants that interested us. We could now become experts on them. They could even tell us where we could buy them when we returned home.

Allow plenty of time. A day is hardly enough

Many visits to these gardens over the years have seen quite a bit of change to the atmosphere which is far more family friendly these days. If you want inspiration for planting, this is the place to come and the borders are stunning in the summer. But Wisley is a garden for all seasons so do not restrict visits to the summer months. It is worth getting membership as individual entry charges are high. The food and drink is also pricy but the cakes are always fresh and a real treat.

“RHS Wisley”

My wife and I visited Wisley a couple of years ago but in June so it was nice to see different plants at their best in August this year. As always, everywhere is immaculate and the planting is magnificent. The annual and the perennial Prairie planting beds are fantastic with huge swathes of plants such as Helleniums and various grasses, all taller than me! The Trial Beds are well worth seeing as are the huge newish Glasshouses. The only criticism is that, unlike Kew, there are no drinking fountains and on a hot day that would have been appreciated. Even in the toilets either the cold water was "not fit to drink" or there was only a hot water tap.
