“Stunning Location....”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

Travelling as a couple for a one night birthday stay I booked a double room with full bay views. We had been to the pub/hotel before and eaten in the bar so we kinda knew what to expect. The views from the terrace are stunning, and the walks, beach and 'nature' to be had are excellent. Having checked Tripadvisor first I elected to not eat here for diner but use the Bay Bistro next door (see separate review). So this hotel is in a prime spot. The pub is basic and serves a range of dishes. On this occasion we just had the breakfast which was freshly prepared and to a high standard. You help yourself to tea and toast and cereal buffet style. The breakfast room over-looks the bay, a nice view to start the day. The double room (No. 4 ) did have a great view, but the room was basic and not very big. A single shower out of a static caravan for example. It was all clean etc and the bed comfy. So the thing is, the room is the standard of a travel-lodge to my mind, maybe slightly better, but the cost is double. You are paying for the view and the location, and the fact that there isn't much hotel competition. One issue I did have was with a glass of wine, over-priced, warm and not very nice really, when I spoke to the barman the response was that they had got through a lot of wine over the weekend... zero customer care and not the hint of a 'sorry' or a replacement. We didn't let the limitations upset the event, slept well and checked out without complaint... sometimes you just don't have the energy. We will go back for the scenary and probably a drink in the pub, its got such a great location, but I wouldn't stay there again for a special occasion.

Room Tip: It's a big ocean out there and the waves make a lot of noise with only windows and curtains as t...

The service was great and we found staff to be really helpful and friendly - our car battery was flat on the last day and in the end the chef found some jump leads and got our car started! This is a great location for amazing scenic walks.

We stayed for 2 nights and the only really good point was the outstanding views and walks !!there is so much walking to do and so much to see ...now the hotel, the staff need to put a smile on their faces and be more friendly in both reception and bar staff .we stayed in room 18 with a beautiful view over the bay but that was the only good point ,dont think they've hoovered under the bed in months and because of the shape of the bottom of the bed you can clearly see it whenever u sit on the chair ,one of the chairs the springs were broken so was very uncomfortable !!the bed creaked all nite because it was all wood .I went in the bath whilst it was running me being a clean freak I run my fingers around the side of the bath and I could feel it all chalky and scummy ,wen I layed down in the bath there was hair on the side of the bath ,all the fixtures in the bath were black with damp and it smelt very strong with sewage.after reading the manual it said the housekeepers make your bed,put clean towels, polish and thoroughly clean the bathroom on a daily basis, when we got back from our 15mile walk I run the bath and still had shower gel splashes over the bath from my last bath and the table still had sticky rin marks from ourdrinks the night before !! Its a shame the hotel was such a let down because its on a prime location it could b very much a 4★if they spent a bit of money and to say the least our stay wasnt cheap but iv had better and cleaner rooms in blackpool at a B+B and last of all I think its discusting you have to pay £3.50 per day for carpark this should be in with the hotel price .

The hotel could do with refurbishment - for the same money and less there are more luxurious hotels however the views of the sea and beach are breathtaking and this is certainly what you are paying for.
Our Room was basic but clean and the shower was powerful with good hot water.
Breakfast is standard with hot and cold options but you do get a great view whilst eating it.
The bar has a friendly atmosphere but we would recommend eating next door at the 'Bay Bistro'.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a sea view room.

We haven't stayed here yet (although we are planning to in the near future) but we have visited a few times. Good choice of beers, good food and friendly service. The views from the bar are breathtaking and this is a great place to have a beer and watch the sun going down.

The hotel is in a prime location, but unfortunately this is not reflected in the accommodation. Our room was not particularly clean, although the linen was fine. Our bathroom was shabby with a shower hose that had no bracket on which you could hang it to stand under it. We also had a leaking waste pipe on the toilet. The bathroom was in need of a deep clean involving cleaning down the tiles and paintwork. Bashed and dirty venetian blinds hung at two windows - one in the bathroom, the other in the bedroom. The bathroom had no extractor fan, which would have helped with the issue of steam and ventilation generally.

I had to ask for the tablecloths to be replaced in the breakfast room after sitting down to the remnants of other people's breakfast on the tablecloths for two days in a row. Some of the cups were dirty and I had to change them on the three days we were there. The breakfast was well cooked and arrived in a reasonable time, however. The waiting staff were friendly.

I found the receptionists were very understanding of my concerns and were apologetic, saying that they would talk to the owner. There were a couple of other things wrong such as faulty electrical appliances in the rooms, e.g., hairdryer and kettle and the TV remote worked when it felt like it.

The outside area could be fantastic. We had garden pots with weeds instead of flowers in them, broken lights, and dirty windows.

You cannot fault the views over the bay or Worm's Head. The hotel is in a stunning location and it has the potential to be fantastic. I feel sorry having to write a review like this. I am assuming there is a shortage of staff. They should employ a housekeeper to oversee the cleanliness of the hotel. Although it is a two star establishment, it should still be clean. It has the feel that they try to spruce things up in some areas, but do not follow through and finish everywhere and keep it clean. Sorry.

Room Tip: Try for an upstairs room as people moving around in the night above you can wake you up.

My birthday weekend treat. We have stayed here before so knew what to expect. This is good honest 2 star hotel. The views from some of the rooms are simply breathtaking. We stayed in room 18 where you can lay in bed and still see out accross Rhossill beach (No Worms Head view from this room) through a big picture window - amazing! You need to be quite specific when booking especially if you want a sea view. Don't expect exceptional customer service here as you simply don't get it, some of the staff are great, we met Leon who was really helpfull and a nice guy, maybe some of the others (including the management/owners) should follow his example, good manners and thoughtfullness cost nothing! We ate in the restaraunt on the 2 nights that we stayed and also had a bar meal and the food was spot on with a good selection of beers and wine etc. I can well reccommend the Worms Head Ale. We will definitely be returning here soon despite the managements unwelcoming undertones, this place is sold on the views and location which is a shame as it would not take much (customer service) to make it a really exceptional place to stay.

Room Tip: We have stayed in room 18 twice, there are beach views but not Worms Head views. Wi-Fi is only avail...
