We stayed there the bank holiday 26th may 2014.
the pub staff were very welcoming on our arrival and squared us away quickly to set up.
In the evening we ate in the pub, the food was amazing but my venison burger was served warm so was sent back.

There are a few things to take into consideration when going here.

1. the showers are tiny (i am 6'5) and super narrow you can be no bigger than an anorexic stick insect to use them.
2. hot water ran out and no one was aware of it.
3. the washing up area is uncovered so if its raining YOU WILL GET WET .
4. This trip it was wet, soaking! maybe they should think about extending the stone areas for cars on the bottom field or supply straw to ease the driving and not getting stuck.

We didn't book but were made welcome anyway despite it looking busy. We didn't have to queue at the bar as the drinks were brought to us. The food was served quickly, hot and with clean plates and cutlery.
The desert was little expensive but as the kids had kids meals their ice cream was free which ended up making the cost much better.
I asked if could bring my dog in and they said that well behaved dogs can indeed come in which mine is. I can't be doing with yapping from other dogs or people who don't watch their dogs and they end up running free but none of that here.
The young ladies serving are very well turned out and good mannered and are a credit to the pub.

Was staying at a B&B close to this pub. On both nights we had a lovely meal. Lots to choose from the menu and the meals we had was excellent on both occasion. Managed to fit us in both nights since we had not booked. Also a dog friendly pub.

Stayed here with a couple of mates on an Enduro weekend, in the attached bunk Barns.

To be fair, it was a busy weekend for them, but the service was very average (you got the feeling of being tolerated rather than welcomed with a smile)

Food was of a reasonable standard, decent portions and fairly quick.

One of the biggest disappointments was that breakfast only served from 0830hrs which is poor and they could have made tons of money if the chef & staff could be bothered. If I owned the place, I'd make sure guests had every opportunity to spend onsite, isn't that the idea?? Instead of that, we had to venture into Buxton to get a bloody bacon sandwich!

There is a sign saying 'fresh coffee served from 10am'. Wow. Are you sure it's not too much trouble? ;0)

Bunk rooms were £15 quid a head, per night. So can't really complain about the cost, but a working radiator would have been nice. You know, so that it was a different temperature indoors...

Room Tip: I'd be tempted to stay elsewhere and come here for evening meal...

Called for midweek lunch on a recommendation and not disappointed the food amazing staff helpful. I had a fishermans platter stunning and my husband opted for BBQ chicken he said best he's ever had. Dessert was a strawberry meringue to share as it was rather a large portion for one not complaining though. Will defo be back.

We stayed one night in freezing December and were warmly welcomed by the very attentive staff. The food is first class and the range of Ales really good. We stayed in the Bunkhouse which was very clean and warm, the only slight niggle is the male toilet block although in the same building is a bit awkward to get to in the middle of a dark night. its an outside walk in the dark. Pity there isn't a connecting loo. We were looking to come back in the better weather to have a better look around the lovely countryside ...

Although it is off the beaten track, we met friends here as it sits equidistant for us all. We had a warm, friendly welcome, the menu is extensive and included a selection of Sunday roast dinners. Child sized portions are available.

The food was plentiful and very good. The service provided by the young staff could not be faulted, they were polite and efficient.

A place we would choose to back to again.
