“Wonderful Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 August 2012 for a stay in August 2012

This is our second time at Lapwing and just as enjoyable as the first. The house is in a marvellous location with wonderful views and within easy driving distance of all the sites we wanted to visit. It is also very well equipped with nice bathrooms and a fabulous kitchen - simple but elegant. Easy for shopping with a Waitrose 20 minutes away in Buxton and a village shop in Longnor. Finally they are very dog friendly.

“Beautiful house, fabulous surroundings.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2012 for a stay in May 2012

16 of us stayed at Lapwing for the weekend and found it excellent, a real home from home.
The views over the fields were stunning as were the facilities in all 3 houses. The living room in the main house was big enough to accomodate all of us after the 4 children had gone to bed and the kitchen was more than big enough for us to cook meals for us all.

We arrived to find all 3 houses in immaculate condition along with a welcome gift of some bottles of wine and we felt really welcome. We were very lucky with the weather but the houses are more than big enough to give everybody some space if the elements conspire against you.

I would recommend Lapwing to any large group of friends staying in the peaks, so much so we are already booking for next year!!!

“Fantastic Birthday surprise weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2012 for a stay in February 2012

What wonderful holiday cottages, fabulous views, quiet location, superbly appointed. My daughter booked the 3 cottages for a surprise birthday weekend for me and our family and my friends. Plenty of space so that you could all be together if you wished or get away from each other if you wanted to! Well furnished with all mod cons and plenty of facilities and parking. Just wonderful!

“A comfortable rural getaway for large parties.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 January 2012 for a stay in December 2011

The main kitchen was spacious, airy and well equipped with plenty of room round the large farmhouse kitchen table. Cosy sitting room with wood burning stove and large dining room with a table that easily seated 16. Useful drying room for wet outdoor gear and boots. Plenty of space outdoors with lovely views from the front of the property.

The bedrooms were very nicely furnished; very variable in size and an extra bathroom would have been appreciated.

Lovely location not far from the pretty village of Longnor with Leek and Ashbourne only a short drive away. Good walking and cycling with plenty of quiet country lanes.

“Lovely spacious accommodation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2011 for a stay in November 2011

Collected keys from owners at Royal Oak pub where we stayed for lunch. Food and service was very very good. Owners friendly and very helpful. Lapwing House was in a beautiful countryside location. Huge spacious kitchen with excellent modern amenities. Bottles of wine upon arrival were well received. Tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper were supplied. Also found tin foil, cling film which came in useful. There was a dining area in the large lounge but we preferred to eat in the kitchen area. (8 of us quite comfortably) Extra toilet in utility room. Lots of space in every room. Loved and used the piano in the large lounge. The master bedroom had an ensuite with roll top bath, also shower. Another bedroom had a large walk-in wardrobe. All beds extremely comfortable with linen and towels supplied. Grandchild and granddad loved the trampoline in the garden. Nice touch was the childrens' games provided. We all went for a walk in the surrounding area, definitely recommended. All in all really lovely accommodation. We would definitely consider staying again.

“Fabulous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2011 for a stay in October 2011

A bunch of friends travelled to the Peak District, all with dogs, for a mini break. The accommodation was great, exactly like the photographs (or I would say even better). Absolutely everything you would need for a large party of people, including a huge dining table. Beautifully equipped kitchen, with marble worktops and plenty of room for everybody. Some of us visited the pub owned by the same people, and I can honestly say the food was excellent and the service was great. The scenery was to die for and everybody and the dogs came back after long walkies, tired, but happy. A lovely find.
