We are at The Crewe & Harper this weekend and it's fab, excellent accommodation an the bar area fantastic for parties. This is Self catering and the kitchen facilities second to none. Plenty of walks around this lovely village to blow the cobwebs off when the party stops. Staff an welcome party can't do enough for you to make your stay one to remember. Recommend this venue for any celebrations or just a family holiday an enjoy the surrounding areas go on the Tissington Trail for walks an bike rides. Lovely.

We booked the C&W for the weekend & invited 20 friends & family to join us to celebrate my 65th. Sounds boring perhaps but with half the group in their 20s it was one long party. Everyone loved it. This place rocks. Excellent, recently refurbed kitchens & great accommodation. Friendly little village with chippie, crafts, tea room, village shop & two pubs. Fabulous setting for walking & cycling. We fully expect to be back later this year for one of our guests' 30th!!

What a sensational weekend we all had. Taking over a pub and hotel for a weekend - something many of them had only dreamed of!
Our guest list ranged from a two year old to a 60 year old, from the party animal to the sedate people watcher. From drinker to tee-totaller. From the total participant in the karaoke to the quiet watcher.
The venue was easy to book and they encouraged me to bring other guest along to view before finally deciding this venue would be right.
The main self catering pub/hotel has 8 rooms on two floors, every room is exquisitely decorated with the most amazing bathrooms en-suite.
If you don't fancy doing your own catering there are loads of local options.
We also hired all 3 courtyard cottages giving us the option for our guest to be peaceful if at all possible.
If you enjoy catering for up to 30 odd people the fully equipped catering kitchen is a must.
On the Saturday we cooked all day breakfast for all guests and sent them off in the pouring rain to do a treasure hunt.
We also catered for everyone who wanted Sunday lunch. I was in my element.
My partner whose surprise party it was, and believe me - he is not easy to please - tells us it was the best birthday he has ever had.
The Peak Venues guys are very honest and suggested we stock the bar with wines and spirits ourselves to save on cost, which we did, they however were able to provide the keg of local ale and lager, all ready for us on arrival. We manged to finish it all.
Upon leaving we left the venue as we found it.
Just to let you know they were very quick in returning the damage deposit to my bank account - this is something which other venues are often very slow to do and make the simplest excuse to refuse refunds.
I would recommend this venue to anyone who wants to enjoy a really excellent self catering weekend for a large party of people who are prepared to muck in and enjoy themselve.
Totally brilliant - our friends have suggested we make it an annual pilgrimmage.
If you have a family gathering and want to book an excellent venue with a company who really does care you could do far worse than Peak Venues. And in the beautiful Peak District. What more could you ask?

Room Tip: Every room is excellent with beautiful en suites

The booking was really easy and the staff really helpful. They answered all questions promptly, were very accomodating and were a pleasure to deal with. We booked it for a 40th birthday celebration and the venue was perfect. Our friends were amazed that we could take over a pub for the weekend and said that we'd raised the bar on the party circuit. The rooms are well presented, clean and spacious with good facilities. The bar and kitchen are great, we managed to feed 23 people and everyone had a go 'pulling a pint'. It's located in a great spot and we'd recommend The Pack Horse inn as a lunch stop pub after a walk up Chrome and Parkhouse Hill.
We would definitely recommend it and are already thinking of booking again.

It was my 40th birthday and I wanted to do something a little bit different, especially as I had family and friends travelling from the south of England and from northern Scotland. As I began to look at places and thought what would be better than having my own pub for the weekend. I hired the Crewe and two of the cottages. Everyone who came along was very positive about the place; the rooms are a great standard and the cottages are great. I was in touch with the owners on a regular basis from thinking about booking the place up to the day I took the keys. They answered all of my questions very quickly and the process was easy. Overall, a great weekend and one which I will take a while to recover from.

How do you combine 3 celebrations involving an 18th, 60th anniversary and a 1st birthday party for 23 people - the answer is to hire the Crewe & Harpur!
We have just returned from a 4 day stay and we have had the best family gathering ever. We hired the pub and one cottage and there was plenty of space for everyone, babies and children included. The accommodation is lovely, all the rooms in the pub are of the same high standard, all with very stylish en-suites, whilst the Calke cottage was very comfortably furnished with one shared bathroom.
The bar area was very popular with everyone but also the lounge was perfect for those who wanted to relax and also for the younger children to play. We stocked the bar ourselves apart from the beer, which we ordered and it went down very well to everyone's delight.
The kitchen area has plenty of space, with 2 large fridges, a large chest freezer and an industrial size oven which was big enough to cook food for everyone at the same time. We arranged a Sainsbury delivery, which arrived at the allotted time, which made catering for so many much easier.
The bar area inevitably was the main attraction and we all enjoyed playing darts, dominoes, games etc. I would suggest you take your own set of darts with you, as we did.
We did have one minor maintenance issue,(a blocked shower) which was quickly resolved and this was much appreciated. Also, the staff at the Royal Oak were brilliant in co-ordinating the booking and were very helpful in sorting out our individual requirements regarding sleeping arrangements and in answering any queries we had prior to our stay.
The Crewe & Harpur is situated in a beautiful part of the Peak District and it really is the perfect place to stay for a few days with family and friends.
Thank you so much - we could not have found anywhere better and we look forward to a return visit in the future.

This is the best place you can ever go if you want to have a prty and a good time with your friends. It's completely self-catering the poor reviews are from the previous owners who ran it as a pub. Just try this place and I guarantee you will love it.
