Being an aviation enthusiast, I had high expectations prior to visiting this museum. I was not disappointed - on the contrary. Here you can see many of the icons from the history of aviation, e.g. The Lockheed Constellation, one of the most beautiful aircraft ever build (also called Connie). Outside you can enter a KLM Boing 747 Jumbojet. The helpful guide told me that this was one of the few series 200 in the world that was re-build to become a 300 series. You will even find a full scale copy of the original Amsterdam Airport with chalkboards for departures. I spend 3 hours there, but could easily have spent the whole day. Even the family (not enthusiasts) were impressed. I will go there once again - alone.

I was lucky to have a retired KLM flight engineer with me touring the museum. The entire history of aviation / aerospace in The Netherlands - from earlier balloons to the astronauts from The Netherlands. History of Fokker is covered from their first planes to their last. Exhibits are very well made. Most have some information on the exhibits in English. One exhibit that hit home was 'Manta from Heaven' - this showed the bread drops by US Forces during WWII over Holland. Of course a lot of KLM and Martinair equipment is on display.

We had. Lovely day out at the Aviodrome museum. The kids enjoyed the old and new planes and to see a 747 aircraft from up close. Topped off with some themed playgrounds and a very nice indoor playground.
Lastly we did a 20min flight with a Cessna with my 6 yr old in the co-pilot seat. It was fantastic.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Museum is kept very clean.
Expect we will be back some time.

The museum is a modest representation of the history of civil aviation in The Netherlands. Although owned by a major leisure company since the bankruptcy of the original charitable foundation the museum is primarily staffed by a crew of knowledgeable loungers, the majority of whom are retired aviation professionals - pilots, engineers etc.

Star of the collection is perhaps a replica of the original terminal at Schiphol. The collection includes a DC2, DC3, DC4, Lockheed Constellation, De Havilland Dove, B747-200, F27 and F100. Not as extensive as the major museums such as Duxford but a great day out nonetheless. Very kid friendly

We spent a very happy few hours in the Aviodrome attraction - lots of exhibits all beautifully kept - some inside a hanger and some on the tarmac. Particular highlights are the original Schipol terminal building rebuilt here, the KLM 747, the Constellation, Dakota... I could go on.

I'm not going to complain about the signs being in Dutch because, well, you know, it's the language they speak there.

Wel worth a visit.
