“Stayed for Work”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

I stayed at this hotel, November 2013. The first appearance is sparse. However, there is a lot here, just compact. The breakfast was good. I like the little bar and the bartender was great! Expeditious service, snappy and on the spot.

Honestly, the only thing I didn't like was the cold room, like 60 or something but I think this is just Euro culture. The fluffy bed comforter let me sleep fine. The rooms are small and utilitarian, modern but this is also a feature of Euro hotels in this price range if you ask me. Most travelers there who are not expecting extravagance will like it.

TV worked fine, Internet and amenities like the bar were just great. I used the check out bike to get around and that worked find too, though they have a limited number so you check in out all the time but it worked fine for me.

The location is right next to the train station if you are a traveler. Close to restaurants and such in the area. I walked most places and there was a lot to choose from. One restaurant about 1 block, the others were maybe 3-4 blocks and a lot there as mentioned.

Dear SteveCouv,

Thank you very much for your review. We are happy to read you had a pleasant stay with us.

You point out exactly what we aim for: delivering a good service and a nice, comfortable stay for our guests, trying to make them feel 'home-away-from-home'.

Just a small replenishment about the bikes: in case we do not have any bycicles of our own anymore, we can provide a voucher with which guests can rent a bike at the central station next door for a small price.

Look forward to welcome you again!

Kind regards,

I'm lying in this fabulous comfortable bed as I write this on our last night here. This is a fantastic hotel, lovely friendly helpful staff on reception and the two chaps in the bar/ restaurant on the evenings have been brilliant!
Room 102 superior room is awesome. Best bed I've ever slept in. Food at breakfast was lovely but evening meal was fantastic! Have the pan fried cod absolutely beautiful. Here on a quick visit to drop my son at university and very impressed with the whole town. Clean, friendly easy to walk around and the mercure is located next to station and a great base to get around from. Well done to the management you've got this place completely right! :)

stayed overnight on business. Great hotel, very efficient and good for internet etc. Only ate breakfast in the hotel but this was perfect for my requirements. Will stay again when next in town. Central location could not be better. On site parking a great bonus.

stayed for 3 nights on a trip with my mother to the war cemetery just over the border in Germany. Very easy to get to on the train, having flown into Schipol, and just a short walk from the station.
Staff were all very friendly and helpful, facilities were good and food was excellent.
Didn't get much disturbance from the station, despite being at the back of the hotel looking out over the railway lines - windows only opened about 15 cms (on the 6th floor) but enough to get some ventilation which was better than the air conditioning.
Nice walk into the centre of town, although a bit far for anyone with walking difficulties, even though it is mostly flat.

Room Tip: rooms at the back look over the railway which may be too noisy for light sleepers

Dear David W,

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. Good to read you enjoyed your stay with us.

The location next to the railway station is handy, especially when travelling on public transport, however for guests who sleep light, it is wise to advise us upfront arrival. We will be happy to allocate every guest in the room which fits their wishes.

We look forward to welcome you again!

Fantastic experience! We spent a night in a Privilege room on the first floor which was newly renovated. The room was clean, spacious and the bed was comfortable. A nice plus point was that the toilet and the shower cabin was in 2 separate sections. Furthermore, the room was quiet and we had a good night's rest. We really enjoyed the Nespresso machine in the room and there were also tea/coffee making facilities. In addition to the normal tv channels, the room came with complimentary films on demand, music and games on the flat screen tv. Breakfast was good and the restaurant had a nice ambiance. The hotel is situated near the train station, and the city center is within walking distance. Check in and check out was fast and efficient. The staff at the reception were friendly. We definitely look forward to staying at the hotel again.

Stopped off for one night after the air show at Gilze Rijen before driving to Herning in Denmark for the Karup air show. The Mercure is right next to the station in the centre of Nijmegen and has a 48 vehicle car park which is important as there is very limited parking in the local area. The cost for an overnight stay a very reasonable €7.50.

Friendly staff, efficient check in, reasonably appointed room what was clean. There was also a fridge (as opposed to a mini bar) for food storage if required which was very thoughtful.

What was required ahead of a 450 mile drive was a good night's sleep. Unfortunately the room above decided to either pack, have a party or engage in heavy footed sleepwalking or maybe all three at 3.00am which went on for a couple of hours. Terrific - thanks very much.

Why is it that hotels, and especially modern ones, which are by definition busy places so poorly built and lacking sound insulation? I really looking forward to a good night's sleep but it was not to be. I would have rated this hotel higher had the sound proofing been better.

From memory the breakfast was priced at €17 so we chose to buy croissants and tea at the station for a much lower price.

Dear Oxtedsurrey,

Thank you kindly for your review. It is good to read you enjoyed most of our hotel.

Unfortunately you experienced nuisance from the guests above you. We feel sorry about this and have the idea these guests really held a party, since the floors are made of a thick concrete. Did you report this to our 24/7-front desk? In the few cases we had a remark of a guest, a short message from one of hour employees was sufficient to regain quietness.

The breakfast rate is based upon the large variety of items on our extensive buffet with the possibillity to choose as much as you like. We also offer a discount rate by booking the breakfast with your room online.

We hope you will give us the opportunity to provide you a better stay in the future.

Stayed for 2 nights, for a business trip. The hotel is located just across the railway station but it's completely quiet.
It's not far from the city center (10 to 15 min by foot).
The room was clean and modern, the staff was very friendly, and you don't have to go through shenanigans to connect to the internet. The king size bed was comfy.
The breakfast buffet was very nice.
