“Stay in Maastricht, netherlands”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2011

We stayed in Town house hotel apartments for a month's time and it was very nice experience. We had one bed room apartment with kitchen, washing machine and dryer. It was self contained apartment, and we felt home away from home. The staff was hospitable. the apartment was located in the middle of the market, hence everything was at a walking distance, including the Maastricht train station. The only issue which we faced, was TV, as all the programs were aired in Dutch, my little 2 years and 8 months old daughter found it very difficult. I guess, this could have been made better, by providing some channels in English. For obvious reasons, a local person will not stay there. Primarily a foreigner will stay there and English being the universal language is understood by everyone.

We stayed a couple of weeks back at this great little hotel. Perfect location for getting in and out of Maastricht and no more than a ten minute walk to most of the places you want to be. Upgraded on arrival to a larger room and the sense of customer service from there just got better and better. Recommend this place. It is somewhat pricey but certainly trendy.

Had a very comfortable stay. The rooms are spottlessly clean and tastefully decorated with a very good, large bed and comfortable chairs. It would have been good to have a desk in the room, but that was the only thing missing.

The breakfast is well cooked, with a good variety of options and makes for a great start to the day.

The location is good if you are dropping in for business - right off the station and close to lots of local restaurants. I wouldn't call it picturesque, though.

The staff at reception is friendly and helpful - never in a rush and always greet you even as you pass by to the elevator.

Room Tip: Go for the larger rooms. The "standard" rooms are just tooooo small.

Nice hotel, friendly atmosphere, good facilities. Only the breakfast is average and too expensive (€ 17 p.p.)

We stayed in a basic double room in this hotel in August, 2011. Hotel location is very near the railway station and about 10 to 15 minutes walk to the town centre. Covered parking was provided near the hotel for Euro 22.50 per night. The room was quiet and of average size. Safe and room slippers were provided although the safe was placed on the floor which made it difficult to access. Free WI-FI was available throughout the hotel. There was no telephone or minibar in the room. The room itself was clean and had a small shelf with some books and potteries to make it look a bit “homely”. There was no wardrobe, just a wall rack. Linen was clean.
Bathroom was large but had no bath tub. Hair dryer was provided but no magnifying/make up mirror. Except for a plastic wall container filled with (I assume) shampoo and body gel there was nothing else. Bath towels were dirty and when asked were changed quickly.
Buffet breakfast was included in the room price and was good. Staff were friendly. Including city taxes and expensive parking fee the room was of poor value.

This hotel may be suitable for people who spend most of the time in town and then immediately go to sleep. But then - why would you spend 160€/night or more? (Single room rate)

For me as a business traveller I would have loved to exchange the 'cool' design and 'hip' atmosphere with ammenities like a desk, a comfortable chair, a carpet, a funktioning internet connection, a closet or other place where I could store my clothes, hooks in the bathroom, shower gel, tea/coffee making facilities or at least not being charged when I get some from the lobby, more space at/on the breakfast table (parts of the tiny tables you sit at are occupied by lamps and decoration). Hot (or at least warm) scrambled eggs.
OK - the staff is really trying their best and after the first night I was assigned another, larger room (for the same rate) where I had a desk to work at and the internet connection was stable (even quite fast!). Still no closet, still no carpet, still no comfortable chair.

Somehow I like the place and the people working there and I blame it mostly on the generalyl high pric level of Maastricht (beautiful city!) that I find the hotel simply overpriced. But still - I wish the people running this place would pack a suitcase and actually *live* in it for a couple of days in one of their standard rooms. I am sure they would start reducing the design and improving on the comfort.

Nice: lots of homemade marmelades for breakfast.

But: As a hotel that seems to pride itself in being 'green' they should stop serving butter in disposable plastic containers that hold only about 10 grams. It may be 'Organic Butter' but creating tons of waste when consuming it makes it an ecological desaster. And where is it from? The UK?!
Really green is the shower gel and soap dispenser instead of those small plastic containers. And it's much more practical anyway. But please, don't let it be the guest's job to run after a refill...

The Townhouse Hotel is a nice design hotel but if you look "through" the design you realise that you pay a bit too much for what you get. We booked a large room, which was lovely with good Hastens beds. Agree with previous review that the pillows were bad. Bathroom was great with good shower. Throughout the hotel you find original wallpaintings which are quite funny and gives the hotel a nice touch. A couple of downsides: you need to pay the full roomprice in advance. That did not feel welcoming at all. At the booking we heard we would get a champagne breakfast but we never saw the champagne. Breakfast is served a communal tables which we love, although the tables could have been slightly wider. Location of the hotel is very convenient. Staff is lovely, but whether that is enough to compensate for the roomprice (EUR 220,- for one night), I am not sure.
