Stayed at the Beaumont for two nights of a weekend for a girls weekend of shopping, eating, drinks etc. Absolutely perfect - we seemed to have an endless amount of small requests, all of which were met with a smile and a can-do attitude. As a Brit living in Amsterdam I can tell you that this is quite rare in the Netherlands!! Mini chocolate brownies offered on check-in were the best we had ever had!
Someone else commented on here that it is quite far from the centre - I totally disagree. It is a max of 10 min walk to the Vrijthof, which is, if anything, the "far side" of the centre (in between there and the hotel is most of the rest of the action). It is also 5 mins walk to the railway station and within 5 mins walk are also some nice bars and restaurants.
Re food, Cafe Sjieke also had excellent customer service and really nice food. Would not rate Zondag - which obviously benefits from a cool/nice food reputation which allows them to feel they can be rude and offhand in their service. We waited 45 mins for our sandwiches and when we said that we had to leave shortly for an appointment were told they would be "at least another 15 minutes". If you are going to have to wait an hour for a sandwich - they seemed very short staffed - then I would expect to be told that when ordering!
And if you fancy beauty treatments we each had an amazing 1.5 hour mix of treatments for 99 euros at the Beauty Instituut on the same road as the side entrance to the hotel. Super friendly, professional beautician, and really lovely treatments (and she came in especially on a public holiday for us). Perfect end to the weekend!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Hotel Beaumont is located in a stately building in the elegant district of Wyck, in the centre of Maastricht. The Beaumont family has run the hotel at this location since 1912. The hotel’s interior, by the British architect David Chipperfield, is modern while at the same time maintaining the building’s typical features and respecting its history. One example of this is the use of minimalist decor in rooms with original ceiling features. Under the inspiring leadership of four generations the family business has grown into a modern hotel with 124 rooms, a number of conference and banquet rooms, and Harry’s restaurant which is a member of Maastricht Culinair, the premier association of quality restaurants in Maastricht. For more than 100 years, honest hospitality and personal service have been the core values of this family-run business. Welcome to Hotel Beaumont! ... more less
