The hotel is in an old Phillips Electrical building right in the middle of Eindhoven. Eindhoven is Phillips town although not as much as previously, like a lot of companies apparently they have taken some manufacturing abroad, but there is still a lot of Phillips in the town. We travelled by train and on walking out of the station asked a friendly Dutchman where the hotel was. He looked puzzled as if we were messing him around and pointed and you could see it quite clearly! Lichttoren means light tower so it is prominent.
The hotel is very modern and spotlessly clean. As the name implies it is heavy on the art, particularly modern art and the inside is finished in a very modern style. The check in and out were very efficient and the staff well trained and polite and like a lot of Dutch people spoke very good English.
The room were clean and well appointed and also quiet. The curtains provided a complete blackout, which is very important if you travel a lot. A very nice shower room with a good range of shower gel etc and a fantastic shower. The restaurant was run by very enthusiastic kitchen and waiting staff and the kitchen is open plan. We ate both in and out, there are many restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk in the lively town centre. The breakfast was extremely comprehensive, a huge spread and not just continental. There is a bar in the entrance which serves an interesting array of drinks, not all of them familiar to the English.
A good stay in a professionally run hotel in a good town centre location.
