“Huge rooms, good location, very comfortable! (Bonus during Volcanic Ash Part 1)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2010

My partner & I stayed at The ART Hotel Eindhoven in April 2010 - we were on a 3 day trek across Europe by train (from Krakow) due to flight cancellation because of the volcanic ash. We booked it very late the previous night before we left Krakow (on booking.com) and paid an amazing 69 euros for a Superior Double.

We were arriving in Eindhoven at midnight having spent 15 hours on trains, so we really just wanted somewhere to lay our heads, and I didn't have high expectations.

The hotel was great - clean, modern & easy walk from the main station. The room was lovely - absolutely huge! There were sofas at the end by the window, nice decor (ie not completely bland), Nespresso machine, huge kingsize bed (with a lovely brass frame), separate toilet & main bathroom, robes & slippers, free wi-fi & flat screen TV.

We didn't have breakfast so I can't comment on that.

If you can get an offer rate I would recommend this place. It is in the old Phillips building, which has been turned into shops, restaurant etc.

Although a little expensive, Art Hotel is definetely an experience worth having. For those who appreciate interior design, this is clearly a place to see. Built in the former Philips factory, the concept is very original and interesting. One part of the hotel (obviosly the factory part) has very high rooms with concrete unfinished ceilings and industrially looking lights. Each room in the hotel is entirely different and the combination of colours (lots of them!!) id totally unexpected but very well chosen. The name of the hotel is very well represented. For some people (especially some women) it may look a little gloomy as some od the rooms have combinations of black (such as black curtains) and red and gray but for those who appreciate a corageous and art-like design this is spectacular. In the new part of the hotel, the rooms are high but not quite as in the old part, they are larger and lighter and the design in the rooms is breath taken.
Breakfast is OK only it lacks variety; it was exactly the same for three das in a row. Some of the staff (like scrumbbled eggs) was quite peculiar in taste but fortunately there are other things that can be eaten and the pastry is delicious.
The bar looks well but it lacks cosiness. Oh, and for those who are not used to cold temperatures inside, it is rather chilly but it is in many other places in The Netherlands as well as in northern countries.

This is a brand new Best Western Premier Hotel built into an old Philips premises with an 'Art' theme - apparently.

It is new so expect a few teething issues. and basic oversights. A great deal of the room
aspects suffer from 'form over function'. The rooms themselves are a great size
but lack a few things e.g. a bath ! somewhere to hang trousers (only a free hanging coat rail is provided); not enough electric sockets (eg for PC) one tea bag only (earl grey..) somewhere to hang wet towels (no towel rail provided) etc.. Bathroom, mirror light only suited to 6ft plus users.

The breakfast is nice but chaotic. It would benefit from someone with some direction
welcoming each guest (espe at >150 Euros per night) not just an old dear asking for your room number.

Reception 'pods' are pretty useless also.

Overall good concept let down by attention to details and some inexperienced staff (though not the receptionst poached from the nearby Crowne..)
