The Parkzijde B&B is one of the best and most restful B&B's I've stayed at, and I would not hestate to recommend it to anyone who wishes to sample the best of Dutch hospitality and the flavor of Amsterdam without being too close to the "party" sections of this wonderful city. The "Garden" room was quiet, spacious, clean, comfortable, and the breakfast area looks out on a nice little garden at the back of the main house. The room even has a complimentary laptop with internet connection to use during your stay, and a nice selection of DVD's if you just feel like staying in one night. Breakfast was deliscious and was more than I usually eat in the mornings. Trams are within just a short walking distance, and these will take you anywhere you would want to visit in only a few minutes ride. (Hint: If staying for more than a day or two, invest in an "I Amsterdam" card for use on public transportation, free entrance to museums, and discounts on restaurants throughout the city. Use the money you save on souvenirs or beer.)
I make no hesitation in recommending the Parkzijde to anyone visiting Amsterdam and who doesn't want just another "hotel" experience.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- You find Parkzijde in front of the beautiful Oosterpark, just outside the busy city-center. The elegant house (1892) still remains conserved in its original style. The Park room, where former residents used to welcome their guests, has a high decorated ceiling and marble chimney. This room at ground floor has a view of the park. The Garden room is located at the rear of the house and has access to its own conservatory, overlooking our garden. The old atmosphere of both rooms is combined with every modern luxury like air conditioning, very fast wifi, laptop, microwave, backoven, cooler etc. Each room has a private ‘en suite’ bathroom. Breakfast, service and all taxes are included in the price (all-in). ... more less
