its close to the motorway and a £20 cab to the dam

the breakfast was fine as was the service

We booked this hotel on the ground that it would be less noisy and less expensive than a canalside B&B in Amsterdam, and seeing as we'd stayed in Novotels before, we knew the standard of hotels in this chain were good. After reading a couple of reviews on here we were a little apprehensive but the whole hotel turned out to be of an excellent standard. The bedrooms were extremely clean with spacious desk, bathroom and TV, ultra-comfortable bed and no noise problems whatsoever - and good value at just over 100 euros/night The door was heavy (3 layers of wood) and with a mechanical lock meaning that security levels in the rooms were top notch. There is also a large cupboard space and minibar, though we didn't use the latter. Breakfast is really expensive at 22.50 euros each but every day we headed straight into town and had breakfast in cafes at much cheaper prices (I can recommend the "l'Opera" on Rembrandtplein and the "Cobra" on Museumplein for breakfast cafe options). Staff are friendly (although the only time we were in contact with them was when checking in and out so can't make a broad comment on customer service really). The hotel is a little out of the centre of town but literally 2 minutes walk from a big public transport interchange (RAI) which is served by tram line 4 taking 15-20 minutes to the centre and metro lines 50 and 51 taking no more than 10 minutes to/from city centre (both metro lines and the tram also take you to/from central station) and national rail services taking you direct to/from Schipol airport but not to the centre. Not good if you want to walk everywhere but we found it no problem at all taking a short public transport journey in every day (and if you buy an I Amsterdam city discount card as we did, the transport is included in the price anyway). If you're leaving the city by train from Central Station but don't want to come all the way back to the hotel to pick up your luggage you can leave it in the large left luggage facility there is in Central Station as we did, and only costs a couple of euros per locker. Overall this hotel is excellent for a visit to Amsterdam, whether it be for buisness or leisure, super-clean, no noise problems and good public transport links, and can recommend to everyone.

Room Tip: Try and ask for room 1410 on the top floor (the one we stayed in) - absolutely zero problems with no...

This hotel offers great value for the money. Only 2 stops (10 minutes) by train from Schiphol International airport. 15 minutes from downtown by tram no 4. Both tram and railway are a block away from the hotel. Hotel is clean and very modern. Staff is very professional.

While beyond the central tourist district, Novotel City is ideal for business travelers attending conferences at the RAI (5 minutes walk). Across the street from the large Amstel Park on the Southern edge of the ring road (Ringweg Zuid) the hotel easy to reach from Amsterdam Central train station directly on Tram line 4 or the Metro (Amsterdam RAI station). Large clean rooms with all the standard Novotel features including wifi (free with Executive room packages). Breakfast prices are a bit steep unless you can fully enjoy the large buffet (which few business travelers have time or stomach for, even though weekend tourists and families might enjoy such an offering). A quick hop on the tram and you are in the centre of the canal district. I have tried others while on business, but several stays here confirm it to be a good value option outside of the tourist zone, with the savings going toward dinner at De Kas.

I visited this hotel for a conference. I was really impressed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food served at breakfast was wonderful--fresh, healthy options, lots of choices. As a business venue, it seemed great. There were no problems with AV support, coffee and treats at break times were very nice, the rooms were the right size for the various different meeting events. I'm not sure about value as I don't know pricing in the area very well. But my experience was great. Accessible by Connexxion (spelling?) shuttle (I arranged this from the travel info booth at the airport) or by train (RAI station). About 30 minute pleasant tram ride into Amsterdam tourist areas.

If you are after a well-equipped, clean, and modern hotel with great service, then this is the hotel for you. The room itself is decently sized with ample room for a family of three (most rooms come with a sofa bed). The staff were exceptionally friendly, polite, and extremely helpful; my queries and requests were all promptly dealt with. There is also a sauna and small gym with fairly new equipment which is conveniently located on the second floor. However, my suggestion would be to book a room with a breakfast-included rate. If paid separately, breakfast would cost €22 per person, which could be a little pricey especially for a traveler under a strict budget. However, the multitude of choices for food and drink available to you for breakfast is astounding. And if you are travelling alone, ask to eat your breakfast at a single booth. Why? Because being seated at this table means having your own TV, complete with headphones - which is great for drowning out the surrounding noise!
Although the hotel is not located within the city centre, both the tram and train stations are just a five-minute walk away. Both modes of transportation can take you to the historic part of Amsterdam within a few minutes (take the number 4 tram or the Amsterdam RAI train). The hotel is also within walking distance from the RAI exhibition centre, which is perfect for conference attendees. However, if you prefer to travel by taxi, you will find a line of class A taxis right outside the hotel itself. These taxis are also capable of taking credit cards for payment, which is beneficial to people who hate carrying cash around (like me).
Overall, it was a highly satisfactory stay - with most aspects exceeding my expectations. One thing's for sure though : my future stays in Amsterdam will always be at this Novotel.

I was having trouble to find a decent hotel in Amsterdam for a reasonable price when I searched for Novotel and I got an unbeatable rate with breakfast included. The hotel is a bit far from downtown but it's close to transit and if you are the type of person who leaves the hotel in the morning and just comes back at night, that's not a problem at all. The room was spacious and clean, there was a sofa bed (that I didnt use), bathroom could be cleaner (that was a hair in one towel, but nothing major besides that), staff was helpful, and considering the size of the hotel, it was quite silent. The breakfast buffet was very good with a great variety of sweet and salt things, but crowded enough to have a waiting list of people to sit down.
In general it was a nice hotel if you dont mind staying out of the city center and taking cabs to come back in the middle of the night.
