“Unbelievable room, location, and service”
Reviewed 24 July 2012

The perfect place to stay in Amsterdam! Fabulous and personal service, a stunning room, and the perfect location! We stayed in the new suite, which is the entire 3rd floor of this absolutely gorgeous canal house with a stunning view of two canals, and it was an absolute delight; we joked that we were just going to move in! The suite is beautifully decorated, the breakfasts were bountiful and delicious, and both Paula and Jan were impecable in their service, attention to detail, and helping us with everything we needed. Jan provided wonderful recommendations and was the perfect host, and we felt like we were truly at home. The location is in a quiet but central area, and absolutely everything is within walking and biking distance (and I have foot problems, so that's a glowing review). If you are staying in Amsterdam, this is *the* place to stay! We can't say enough about how wonderful the Tulipa is, and will definitely be back; we are so grateful for this amazing establishment, which made our trip a dream! The Tulipa was absolutely everything you could ever want for the perfect Amsterdam lodging experience! Thank you, Paula and Jan, for creating such a beautiful haven!

My girlfriend Gizella and I were the first ones to stay in the newly renovated beautiful large apartment on the third floor of a classic Amsterdam building. It had a big balcony with a view of the canal. The newly renovated bathroom with bathtub and separate shower was excellent. The breakfast, served in the nice breakfast room every day until 10 o'clock, was tasty and fresh - and the coffee was delicious. We had the pleasure to dine with another couple (from England) who also enjoyed their stay immensely. Paula and Jan couldn´t have been nicer - and they were helpful with good tips about the beautiful city of Amsterdam. The Tulipa is situated in a central, but nice and quiet area - and everything is in walking/biking distance. We give the Tulipa our best recommendations. It was better than we had dreamed about - and much bigger and more romantic and personal than any expensive hotel room. We are already talking about going back there someday. Have a great stay - and thanks again to Paula and Jan for this wonderful Amsterdam experience!

Room Tip: The newly renovated apartment on the third floor was fantastic.

We stayed at this B&B for 2 days. The feel of this canalside home made our stay in Amsterdam! Our room was on the second floor and did not have a view of the canal, but it was large and very comfortable. The steps up to the room were very steep but manageable. The owners of the inn were very helpful in helping us get tickets to the Van Gogh Museum and gave us great hints on where to go in the city. One of the suggestions was the local market on Saturday which we really enjoyed. It felt like we got to know what the people of Amsterdam did on a regular basis. Breaskfast at the end was good. I enjoyed being able to sit at our own table and talk about the adventures ahead of us for the day. The inn is expensive but staying in one of the homes you see that represent Amsterdam was worth it to us!

Room Tip: If you want to have a room that views the canal, book very early!

Myself my husband and my two friends stayed at this b&b over new year and it was a great decision to stay here. It was in a great location, room roomy, clean, cosy and beautifully maintained. The breakfast was great which I looked forward to every morning. I would reccomend to anyone to stay here.

Tulipa B & B was great. Found it through Trip Advisor. Great location. Close to the center, but quiet. Lovely canal view, great breakfast, our hosts were helpful and know Amsterdam inside out.
I couldn't imagine a nicer place to stay in Amsterdam.

Room Tip: canal view is lovely.

Tulipa was a wonderful experience for us. We stayed with Paula and Jan for 5 days and enjoyed to the max every delicious breakfast. As hosts, they were unsurpassed with their graciousness and eagerness to tell us about their city and what things might interest us there. We had the pleasure of staying in 2 of their 3 rooms there as we had booked to move from a lower room to the room with the view of the canals when that room became available. Each room has its own unique qualities and comforts. The lower room, while lacking the view, is very large and comfortable, two story with a gorgeous winding staircase from the living space to the bedroom and large windows that opened to the inner courtyard. And the canal view, wonderful! Charm everywhere. Thanks to Paula and Jan for such a wonderful time in Amsterdam. Tip from Jan. Get some herring while you are there at one of the little herring stands.

Paula and Jan are the owners of this lovely gem of a B & B. They are warm and welcoming and made us feel like we were staying with old friends. We had a wonderful 2 floor room with a large sitting area upstairs complete with a refrigerator with wine and soft drinks, a coffee maker and TV. Down the spiral staircase was the bed and bath with a large tub and very comfortable bed with good linens. Each morning we were greeted with a warm smile and a fabulous cooked breakfast made with fresh local ingredients complete with fresh fruits, orange juice, cheeses and wonderful breads. And of course coffee and teas. They we're most helpful with showing us the points of interest on the map and the best way to get around this exciting and vibrant city. THANK YOU Paula and Jan for a fabulous time. I hope we have an opportunity to visit again.
