Botel Zebra's cabins are soooooo tiny and not very clean. The beds are made for 5 year olds. The tiny bathrooms are dirty and the shower curtains might be 100 years old. The "continental" breakfast consist of dry old bread and tasteless cold meet. I would really not recommend this botel to ladies or "romantic couples". Hope this helps. ;-)

Extremely tiny rooms, so much humidity inside the rooms you can't barely breathe, you can see water drops everywhere because of the humidity, toilet doesn't flush properly. I stayed there for 3 nights and I couldn't sleep at all, the first night I was shivering, the second night we turned on the heating and it was so hot it was unbreathable. On the third night we found ourselves another hotel nest to central station and it felt like a palace. Themlocation was good, and the breatfast was ok, the lady and the man there were very friendly, but honestly, this botel is deterred, there's hardly any cleaning, it's uncomfortable, small, cold, humid, noisy(due to paper thin walls), and the list of negative aspects goes on and on and on...

As we travelled over the new year and booked accommodation at the last minute this was basically the only place available. Basically there is a family living on the boat and they are really lovely people and this is their home but there needs to be some major changes in order for their business to survive.

The rooms are only to sleep in. You need to be out all day as the rooms are just uncomfortable and not relaxing to be in. The floor is wet the entire time and there is no way of avoiding this. There was one tiny little heater in the cabin and it was FREEZING (even when i turned it to the highest heat). You can hear EVERYTHING that is happening in the entire boat. I heard people opening doors, sneezing, hair drying their hair, snoring and talking. I had to wear ear plugs.

On our last night there was so much condensation on the wall that it dripped all over my bed and made a huge wet patch. I was glad to get out of the place by the next day.

The owners also chain smoke on the boat (inside with all windows closed) even though they have big no smoking signs everywhere. It is disgusting if you are a non smoker. My towel smelt of cigarettes.

The breakfast offered in the morning is quite pleasant although no hot food.

Overall I would never go back. There were some some nice boat hotels next to us that appeared to be renovated and carpeted throughout.

This Botel is tiny, the rooms are tiny.
I didn't like the fact that there was no area to sit in on the boat. Other boats in that area were available after hours to hang out in, in this one it was your cramped, pea sized room or outside.
I didn't find the owners very welcoming at all, getting just a grunt from male in the living area.
The family's living area is the same as the restaurant/ bar area. The breakfast was terrible, nothing hot at all
The rooms were small and cramped , they were also freezing and smelt quite bit.
I had other friends in other hotels, with proper hotel rooms in a more central location and they were paying less money!

1. upsides: there are only two good points about this botel: breakfast is good (the cook is a very nice filipino guy) and so is its location, walking distance from the Central Station.

2. downsides: We spent 4 nights here and, as we had to pay cash upfront, could not leave after our 1st night. The cabin is incredibly small, about 2x3 m or 7x10 ft. Two people can barely move inside. The bathroom is dirty and there's mould all over the curtains. As we could see every morning, the ceiling sweats all over the cabin and the water drips from above, due to the temperature difference between inside and the water outside. The humidity inside was so intense that our clothes were humid, almost wet. The mirror is small and we could barely use it due to the humidity. The shower was poor.

In a nutshell, for the same price or slightly more you can find much better accomodation in Amsterdam. I guess this is why they ask payment in cash upfront only.

  • Liked — the breakfast served by the nice filipino guy
  • Disliked — the dirty bathroom with mould all over the curtains. The ceiling that sweats all over the cabin.
