Amsterdam Canal Apartments

We (myself, partner and 12 year old daughter) stayed for 5 nights at Raamgracht 2 Apartment. It's terrific. The location is perfect, we walked (and rode bikes) everywhere, including to and from central station with our bags. You are right in the heart of things but, however, it is very quiet at night. The bells from the lcoal church are a lovely reminder of where you are! The apartment has everything you could need including a fully equipped kitchen (we ate out all the time, but handy for those who want to cook), washing machine and drier and separate sleeping area.

The owner, Bas, has written a guide which is fantastic... We ate at the places he suggested and everyone was a hit. It also includes things to do and see and outlines where all the local necessities are. The guide is generous in sharing local favourite things to see, eat and do - it also shows that the owner cares that you have a great time and make the most of the local area. We hardly saw Bas, which was nice. The booking was easy and Bas' friend was here to greet us, even though we were late because of train strikes.

The bathroom is small - the shower is great. The bed was very comfortable, and there is heaps of room in the living area for a fold out bed for a third person. All reports are this was comfortable too. The heating system is excellent. The wifi is good - a bit hit and miss - but, minor.

You MUST go to the little bar/restaurant/cafe around the corner, Englebewaarder. And a little further afield, don't miss the cafe on the top of the library (and check out the library too).

It's great value for money and you really feel a part of the city, with your own canal right outside your door.

Only downside was the smell of pot smoke from the guests in the apartment upstairs (we are not pot smokers), but, again, nothing like the smell of pot to remind you where you are!

We would definately stay here again. Loved it.

Stunning modern apartment, with fully working kitchen, luxury intimate room with a stunning Dutch style modern bathroom, funky decor and all extras was included in the price such as dvd player with all latest dvd's, massive tv, chocolates etc. Apartment was typical Dutch (exactly what we wanted) as you walk down the stairs to the basement apt and was on the canal with a view of the canal, the apartment was "Korenbloemen Studio" 1 canal across from the red light disctrict area which is exactly what me and my girlfriend needed for this short trip. Stunning apartment + very cheap for the area compared to hotels, Parking right outside the apartment however cost me 45 Euro's every 12 hours but hey it was worth it, i never leave my house with out a car so no chance i would go Amsterdam without a car. Our host lingo i think it was, was a very nice friendly, easy to get on with guy which was honest and very trust worthy, We will 100% be back!!

We stayed in the Raamgracht 2 apartment in June 2011. We were absolutely delighted with our choice. The location is fantastic, close to everything. We were able to buy supplies for a local supermarket and have our breakfast at the apartment each morning.
We made use of the washing machine/dryer - very handy after travelling for 4 weeks.
The apartment is very comfortable, my only criticism would be that because the apartment is in the basement the neighbours above (In Raamgracht 1 apartment) can be noisy and this can be especially annoying if they are coming in and out at all hours!!
The owner was very accommodating, he lives on the top floor of the 3 story apartment (Above raamgracht 1), he met us on time to give us our key and gave us suggestions of good local places to eat.
Overall though, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend the apartment and Amsterdam as a travel destination.

Two nights in Raamgacht 1, studio apartment with separate kitchen. The website is completely accurate on all counts. As to the bells they come from the HUGE church that is behind the building and did not start until 10:00 having stopped at 22:00 the previous evening.
It is a wonderfully peaceful setting overlooking the quiet street and canal, yet only a short walk to the hustle and bustle of the centre.

I can't believe I didn't write this sooner. We stayed in the Korenblomen~ and it was perfect for two. Spotless, comfortable, a perfect location (just a few blocks outside the Red Light district but on a delightful, quiet canal street). Worth every penny. Enjoy Amsterdam without the busy confusion of a hotel.

Everything about our stay in the Amber apartment was perfect. The street below with the large windows opening onto the canal was memorable. The loft bed was quite comfortable and the bathroom was newly updated and very clean. We really enjoyed having the kitchen in the apartment so we could prepare some meals. Everything here was perfect for us and we hope to return someday. These apartments definitely have character and I fully recommend staying there.

It's hard to find decent accommodation in Amsterdam but I found this one with a lot of searching on the web and have to share it. There are 3 separate apartments in the same loction. I chose Raamgacht 2 as it was 1 bedroom and I have to say it was much better than anticipated. Located on a quiet canal in central Amsterdam just a few minutes walk to Dam Square. This place gives you loction without the noise. It is on street level so no steep steps to climb. The website is very acurate in regards to pictures. It is tastefully decorated with everything you could possibly need. Everything is provided from linen to cutlery, crockery, furniture, iron, free ADSL and WiFi, tv ,dvd, stereo. Pretty much just move in and feel at home. Fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer and great heating. This particular apartment has a seperate bedroom where as the other 2 are studio. You have your own street front entrance and own telephone line. The host who lives upstairs is very welcoming and helpful and unless you have a problem you are not disturbed. There is a fantastic supermarket around the corner, "Albert Heijn" which has all your needs for self catering.

Best....Location, walking distance to everything central, washer/dryer, comfort, privacy, feeling at home.

Worst....Bells ringng constantly from a church or somewhere continuously. I have no idea where they come from. Does make you feel like you are in Europe though.
