Description: MENU Looks has a small menu that changes every 6 weeks. Oysters, Entrecote and Lobster are always available. The changing menu is always surprising and refreshing. We cook with all seasons and preparing the classic ingredients with a personal twist. We want you as our guest to have a pleasant experience at Looks Dining. LOCATION Amsterdam's Chinatown has a long history when it comes to food. Looks situated in the center, a forest of canals, bridges and 16th century buildings. The wide range of old asian restaurants, Looks stands out immediately. The first impression of the two ancient monumental buildings. But if you open the door you enter a warm, modern, international, urban occasion. At the entrance the kitchen, staff greets you kindly. With an open kitchen, guests can immediately see that we work with fresh products The building consists of many different levels connected by stairs. The rooms have their own character and look. Through a lot of levels and the use of illuminated glass creates a unit.

Was there with DH for dinner and we chose the 3 course dinner with wine arrangement. For starters, I chose the salmon sashimi with croquette and salad, nice but not spectacular. His starter was steak tartare with Parma ham which emerged the winner for the night. Steak tartare was very fresh and the texture was just right.

Main was full lobster for me while he had the ribeye. I loved the lobster but not the chunky fries that came with it. I felt that it ruin the sophistication of the lobster and was quite happy to just have the lobster with the veg. His ribeye was very well done and the fats literally melted.

Desserts were ok, nice but not blown away. The whole meal was a great experience putting together the fact that we walked in with no reservations, sat near the open kitchen ( very sensorial) and service was good. To me the prices were reasonable.

As with other reviewers we noticed an ad for Looks restaurant on the KLM in flight magazine and were seduced by the lobster. We made a reservation for 8pm on saturday which was not a problem. When we arrived the service was prompt and attentive. We had oysters which were very good and "COMPOTE OF CEVENNE UNION" which is one of the most unusual and delicious "starter/salad/savoury ice cream" surprises I've tried. The lobsters were a good size and arrived almost dismantled so it was easy to eat them.

I found "Looks" by reading the KLM magazine at the airport, I was looking for a nice and romantic restaurant to go to before a night at the Opera. Perfect match with my needs! Cuisine is exquisite, well cooked (fish and meat, homemade desserts), and with that little someting that makes a classical something new to discover. I'm French and this French restaurant in Amsterdam can compare with posh Parisian restaurants. Price are okay considering the quality of the whole experience, wines are well selected and not that expensive. Service is nice and not too uptight which is even better, you get a feels-like-home experience. Would definitly go back there when in Dam!

Just had dinner tonight at this restaurant recommended by klm magazine . I was very disappointed .
Not only we just got the average menu card, while further guests got the special weekly menu card! If we would have known....we had much more choice to choose.
This recommended restaurant did not mention what kind of oesters they would have on their menu. A recommended restaurant will serve oesters with possibilities to clean your hand...had to ask for it!
Surf and turf menu...the meat was to shew .
It's a restaurant to eat good food, but do not cheat beeing special. Prices are too high for quality!

Found this restaurant from the "Holland Herald" which is KLM airlines in-flight magazine. We were not disappointed. The entire experience from seating to departure much later was perfect in every regard. The server was helpful, polite, attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. Extras we requested were no problem. The bread was fresh from the oven and delicious with the olive oild provided on the table. The Crab Bisque starter was excellent and the bisque was simply to die for. Then came the Nova Scotia fresh lobster, perfectly prepared and served with a tasty relish. To finish things off a beautifully presented creme brûlée that was certainly among the tastiest ever. We will return to this place whenever we are in Amsterdam again.
