“Funky and fun - lacking comfort”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2012

A very different hotel...young, hip and reasonably priced for Amsterdam. We enjoyed our stay thanks to the super friendly young staff and funky bedrooms. Having said that, it wasn't very comfortable to stay in the hotel room. Too cold (setting was max 23C, but was turned down at night), small and no place to walk around. The only option to enjoy the room was lying in the bed which was very comfortable and luxurious. The shower pod was great and efficient. The toilet pod...oh well!

Access to central Amsterdam takes 15-25min depending on the time of the day and is easy with tram no 5. I would recommend the hotel for a 2-3 night stay for active couples only.

We stayed at citizenM for a long weeked in May 2012, from start to finish it was great. Easy check in with the computer system and staff were on hand to assist if required. Once up to the room in 1 of 2 lifts available we were pleasently surprised to see that every floor and room was indeed identical - very cool. The room itself did not disappoint either - it was just like the pictures. As has been said dont book this room with anyone other than your better half as privacy really is at a premium. Fantastically massive and awesomely comfortable bed which takes up most of the end of the room. This has storage built into it for one or two cases, we had to laugh when we saw people turning up with 10 cases (probably still putting a bad review on here!!)

Great lounge with computers and designer furniture for everyone to use, nice food and great value cocktails 24hrs a day. Watched a free movie while waiting for my missus to get ready, Captain America, didnt set the world alight but passed the time. Adult movies are also free but hey this is Amsterdam after all.

Noise between rooms was limited to the occasional blind going up or down so try and remember to lower these before you leave for the evening as if you forget you will be naked in front of the world - dont forget where the toilet is and make sure to check out the picture near the lifts for examples of what can be seen through the open windows!!! ;-)

All in all a great experience due to the hotel itself and its excellent tram links to both the city and the train station. Tram number 5 gets you into the city in around 10mins and the train from Zuid gets you to the airport in around the same time. Travel passes can be purchased in the airports information office ( VVV ) and are highly recommended as cheap and easy travel results.

Room Tip: Any they are all the same!!!! Highest floor they have really as the views will be better and less p...

A bit of foray into the future of the hotel (or maybe, even a permanent residence) room in megapolis in mid-20XX.

King size bed is what it is, locable WC, tiny shower, no privacy if you are not alone.

Lack of personal touch from the staff if you need one, tech-controlled room.

Overall, nice to try, but I need a little bit more from a hotel, even for this rate :)

From beginning to end, "easy" sums it up. Dropped off our bags early first day (of a long weekend), staff waiting at check in machines to welcome us so mins later we were back off to explore the city. Once we worked out the tram passes (poor information at airport) we were able to use the tram station 50m down the road to get in and out of the city with ease.

Checking in later that evening was at a computer terminal and took minutes (help was at hand again if needed). Had already seen pics of the rooms so no surprise when we entered but enjoyed the whole automated system and though more space for luggage would be nice we were happy with the facilities on offer. The downstairs lounge/eating areas were very unusual, nicely styled, and broken into a number of quiet spots with a nice choice of 24/7 drinks and food on offer at reasonable prices. Staff were polite and helpful, not that we had any real problems to test them with!

On our last day we checked out at a terminal again, left our bags for the day while we continued our adventures and collected them on the way back to the airport (very close by train from the nearby station). One of our least complicated stays yet and no dramas!!

This is absolutely my favorite hotel ever. It's so eclectic and different that it really is a relief from the usual stuffy hotel experience. It's particularly nice if you like to be independent when you travel because it makes it so possible to be more at home. Just steps from Schipol, it couldn't be better located to the stores and amenities there, and to flying and train travel. The rooms are fun! It's perfect for one person. If two people are staying in one room, you need to be comfortable with each other because there isn't a lot of privacy. The restaurant, coffee bar and bar are just great--gives you that help yourself feeling. And you can check yourself in. If you travel alot like I do and don't like the FUSS and the RULES of the big hotel chains, this place is for you. And it couldn't be more reasonably priced.

Room Tip: all the rooms are exactly the same!! And they are all amazingly quiet and comfortable. Sound proof...

The room is basically controlled via a moon pad (tv, lights, blinds and temperature) which was fun to play with, however the moon pad needed rebooting now and again as it lost the connections. Breakfast was ok although only continental, no cooked hot food.
The hotels located in Amsterdam Zuid, so a tram ride from the Central area. Would stay again.

Functional, friendly, trendy, handy, chic.

Ok, so the room isn't huge (but it's OK in size) the bed is massive and great. I can see you'd get a bit stir crazy for anything greater than a long weekend, but if youre touristing and only using it for a base then it's a great choice.

(as a couple and weekend visitor) What do you need from a room? Great bed, big TV, hot shower, good location?
- has it all.

Really encourages you to spend time OUT of the room. The bar is friendly and reasonable value, there are 3 TV lounges, open wifi, great staff, convenient food, 24/7

Tram #5 takes 18 mins to Centraal.
Amsterdam Zuid STn (by WTC) is 5 mn walk and 15 mins by metro (look for M sign @ Zuid)
12 mins from Schippol' 2nd stop.

Weird absinthe cocktails! And triple brewed 9.5% beers! Draught Heineken. Home cooked evening meals. 3.95/4.95 sandwiches.
Free movies - adult(!) and classics from late 1990s.

All good.
