This chains want to be super-moderm and techo advaced, but they really lost the basics. They have self/service checking (which is fine for me), free WiFi and movies. The room is terrible: small, no separate area for bathrooms and extemely uncofortable and anonymous. No place where to place your things, just one chair. The price however is quite close to other more standard Hotel chains

Unless you are really into this 'ultra-modern', minimalist approach, I strongly advice to stay away from this place.

Room Tip: Take teh garden side. Dont much stuff with you. You will have no place where to put it.

Hi "Michele-Scar",

Thanks for sharing your experience with fellow travellers. At citizenM, we see hospitality differently from the standard hotel chains, and understand it doesn't satisfy everyone.

Space is used smartly so no huge rooms with an expensive price tag but a functional room at an affordable rate. Basic at citizenM is luxury where it counts, going beyond Wi-Fi, which is about freedom and therefore must be free. Luxury here is about value, and the basic is a check-in/out experience that takes less than 2 minutes, friendly staff, a huge bed to get lost on, a power-rain shower, 24/7 food & beverage availability, a contemporary environment that feels more like a living room, an extension of your own home other than marble fountains, doormen and intimidating furniture.

We built our hotel for a niche on our own style, and respect that it is not suitable for everyone. That said, I do feel sorry that your expectations were not met here.

Wish you safe travels!

All the best,

Diego

Easy to get to from Schiphol airport. 20 mins on train and then a short walk. Smooth check-in that you do yourself on-line, knowledgeable and efficient staff are on hand to help. Rooms small and pretty funky but not really good for more than a cold of nights. There is no wardrobe just a huge drawer under the bed. The rooms are quirky and rather warm. You have a handset in the room which controls lights, temperature, tv, blinds. The bed is huge and very comfortable. The bar is expensive but the drinks are excellent. Quite close to the city, you need to get a number 5 tram for about five or six stops. We bought the 'I love Amsterdam' travel card which was brilliant. the weather was dreadful but we had a great time so all in all a pleasant experience and would definitely return to the CitizenM.

Room Tip: Don't take much luggage as there is nowhere to store it except for a large drawer and three coat...

Did not really know what to expect - looked at hotel web site & it seemed a bit trendy but it was a real surprise.

The staff are really helpful & the rooms are quite quirky but are really good.

The shower tube was superb &the bed takes up large portion of the room but was really comortable

you get free movies / wifi & the room is spotless.

Will look out for this companies other hotels with out doubt

I stayed here for a conference in the RAI. It's conveniently located, being about 10 minutes walk across the park from the venue.
Staff are very helpful and accommodating. It is a bit annoying that you have to go to an ironing room but that's not the end of the world. No laundry facilities limit it a bit from a business travel perspective but I would go back.
The rooms are interesting, not too sure on the open toilet pod design & avoiding getting a cold drenching in the shower is something that needs practice. Rooms are reasonably sized for what you get and there is a nifty (if rather unreliable in my room) control mechanism for entertainment and lighting.
There is a sense of fun running through the hotel. There is big photo of the hotel opposite the lifts which is quite titillating, albeit not for those who are prudish or easily offended.
It is a bit of a distance from the centre but the public transit is quick and efficient. I would definitely return if visiting the RAI again, though for a family trip would probably look for something more central.

The Citizen M hotel is very easy access from the airport (6 mins on train to Amsterdam Zuid station then 5 mins walk) so it was great when we were arriving quite late. Although make sure you have loose change for the train ticket as credit card (if the wrong type) and notes are not hugely useful.

The hotel staff are very, very friendly and helpful with advice on restaurants and places to visit. The room was exceptionally clean and well presented.

The rooms are funky and unique and you either love or hate the concept. They are not huge rooms and have pretty poor hanging and storage so I'd say great for a short stay (up to 3 nights) but if you're here for a week you might find it a little frustrating. There is no where in the shower to put your things only two hooks to hang up a jacket and minimal coat hanger space.

The bed is large and comfortable. The TV has lots of free movies and free wifi in the hotel is a bonus.

The mood pad is a nice idea but it stopped working on our second night and didn't get resolved, so part of the concept is lost if they can't make it work.

The toilet cubicle is frosted glass and shower is clear glass. This might not be appropriate for every couple if you like your privacy. Although there is a privacy curtain that can be pulled across.

Whilst the Citizen M hotel is really well placed for the train and tram, it is 30 mins on the tram out from the centre of town. This was absolutely fine for us, but might not suit someone partying in town until late.

It is a 10 minute walk for restaurants and cafes but there is a pretty good choice within that 10 mins walk.

Make sure you take a look at the hotel photograph opposite the lift!

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a quiet room if you like it quiet. The staff made sure we weren't near th...

Very nice and good hotel. 3min walk from rail station Zuid. 12min walk to the convention center RAI via the Beatrice Park. Very nice walk to the RAI, but be careful of bike drivers! They have their own lanes, but you have to cross them several times. The hotel itself is very inspiring. This is due to the design and very friendly staff. It's a combination of business, design, attitude of staff and visitors which makes yourself feel comfortable. It deserves it's name. Absolutey recommended! Suitable for business and leisure.

Room Tip: Rooms to the park are absolutely noiseless.

The concept behind this hotel is very nice. It is a modern, innovative and nononsense hotel. Rooms are cool but not big. All facilities are present and the beds are nice. Breakfast is served 27/4 and can just be grabbed from the selves near the bar. If you want to have a confortable new modern hotel this definetely the place to be. It is a bit far from the city centre(damrak) by foot but it is manageable. Public transportation is also very nearby! Great stay!
