“Lekker Amsterdams”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

Very cozy, very amsterdam, discovered by tourists, but that doesn't make it touristy, it is just a really friendly place, good honest food typical Dutch. Were a group of 8. Smoked eel, shrimp coctail starters, for main most had the traditional stuff, chicken in the pan, stewed meat and Sateh. Visitor or Local - worth visiting again and again. Business visit last time but with foreign guests and out for a relaxing evening, wouldn't go to discuss or close a big deal ;-)

“Cosy place with ok food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014 via mobile

Restaurant with ok food. You get more than enough and if it's not enough they will refill it for you. It can be busy in the evenings, so maybe you'd better make a reservation. And a real cosy place!

“Children are made to feel VERY unwelcome”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

I dined at Restaurant 't Zwaantje one night with my three children who were very eager to eat some mussels and chips. From the moment we got there, we were made to feel extremely unwelcome by the waiter there. We were seated in a faraway corner and my children were patronised and couldn't make a move without being told off, despite behaving really well. And despite ordering the most expensive items on the menu.
The food was fine - nothing memorable - and the service spoiled our evening completely.
My husband and I have dined with our kids in many fine restaurants around the world and were never made to feel so unwelcome - surely a woman alone with three kids out for a nice family evening didn't antagonise the waiter for no reason. Surely not.

“Funky, in a good way”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

This very Dutch restaurant is kitted out in a pleasingly quirky way, with thick carpets on the tables (like in Frans Hals' militiamen banquet paintings) and enigmatic cooking implements hanging from the ceiling. The waitresses were friendly and efficient. The menu features lots of seafood and meat for both first courses and mains. A fish soup was rich and voluminous, and had a decent number of mussels in it. The mussels look like a specialty because a few diners were having pots of them and fried mussles on the menu looked intriguing but got pipped at the post this time by meat. The mains come with salad and chips with the obligatory mayo, which makes for a generous serve for not a whole lot of money, given the neighbourhood. A pork fillet in cream and mushroom sauce was fine (not the stuff of legends, but agreeable). My dining companion, Miss Constance, was thoroughly pleased with lamb chops, charry on the outside and rare on the inside, which is not a bad achievement given that they are thin chops. The wine is surprisingly well priced. We walked out with bellies full of meat, fish soup, bread (served with regular butter and a lovely herb butter), and a bottle of completely decent Bordeaux for 64 Euro. And did I mention that there were carpets on the tables? .

“Great food. Very busy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2014 via mobile

Late decision to try this restaurant which is well located, so didn't book. Visiting with two children aged 10 and 7.

Restaurant was very busy with a nice mix of locals and tourists.

Excellent quality food with Dutch specialities.

Definitely try this place but book so as not to be disappointed.
