“Very average”

Came here after a nearby restaurant (De Waaghals) had no opening for 2 hours. (P.S. - you need reservations on Fri, Sat. at De Waaghals). The fact we could get in here easily should have been a clue. The mussels tartare appetizer was good, but the sate of beef was not. We like to eat relatively healthy, and this meal was not. "served with vegetables and potatoes" means french fries and pickles. The peanut sauce was overwhelming. My wife complained that the quinoa dish with feta was tasteless. There are better restaurants in the city.

“Classy food without pretension away from the crowds”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2013

Stumbled upon this place one evening. It's a bit off the beaten track in a residential neighbourhood not too far from Rijksmuseum.

Proprietor took our coats and seated us and told us what the soup and fish of the day were. I ordered the fish (Perch with cous cous) and my girlfriend had portobello mushroom topped with Brie and tomatoe. We also ordered fries with mayo as we had yet to try this "national dish"!!

The dishes were presented very pleasingly with small little details on the plate that show the chef certainly has pride in his work and tasted every bit as good as they looked. Ordered the cheese board for dessert which was also nicely presented and had a nice selection of good cheeses along with a scattering of walnuts and a tangy chutney.

Paid €55 for two mains, two sides a dessert and drinks so I don't think this is bad value especially compared to the gaudy neon lit Argentine grills up the road in Liedesplein.

All in all I was incredibly impressed with the quality of the food, served in a pleasant atmosphere. Wasn't busy on the cold Sunday evening we visited but with the glass doors at the front leading to the pavement, I reckon this place would be packed in the summer. Go! Eat!

“What a find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2012

We were looking for a different restaurant but stumbled on this one, and are so glad we did. The food was terrific but best of all was how friendly e everyone was. We even came back a second night for dessert just because they were so nice.

“Relaxing atmosphere”

Some of the dishes were good and others were not so. Service was good and atmosphere relaxing because it was not very busy. Not much else to say for an average meal. Would not recommend the seafood.

“Very Good”

First restaurant we visited in Amsterdam and it left us with a positive view of the city. The food was excellent and the service very good. I definitely will be trying the recipe at home.
