We booked this dinner cruise a few months ago before starting our trip. We were looking forward to it and we were not disappointed. The captain was informative and entertaining, the waitress (Mireille) was pleasant, approachable and very professional. The food, the boat ride and the atmosphere were exceptional. Best part of our two week trip so far! Thank you! We fully recommend it. Ken and Lynn

In the planning stages of our vacation to Amsterdam, I had a desire to take some sort of canal cruise. In my research I discerned between the various options and noticed several operators offering dinner cruises. I could see that no other dinner cruise comes close to Jewel Cruises in terms of overall satisfaction on trip advisor. This in combination with the fact that the each voyage has a tendency to sell out very quickly prompted me to make a reservation on the Jewel Cruises website for May 24, 2014 at 7:30pm for my family of three.

The online reservation system was effective and sent us an email confirmation. We opted for the Dinner Cruise Deluxe option. This includes a welcome bottle of champagne, pre-dinner finger food and after dinner coffee and chocolates which is not included in the Classic Cruise option. The Deluxe option was 112.50 Euros per person (125 minus a 10% discount for booking directly on the Jewel Cruises website). If you do not prefer the extras, the Classic Cruise option is currently 99 Euros (110 minus the 10% discount). There is not much difference in price so I would just opt for Deluxe and enjoy the extras.

Just to give people some advice, if you are new to Amsterdam be sure you understand the departure address (Singel 250). To be safe, we took a walk from our nearby hotel a couple days before just to understand the exact area. There seems to be a post office right at Singel 250 with some orange mail boxes. By doing this there will be less stress in getting there on the day of your cruise. And if your hotel is very far away, give yourself plenty of time to get there even if it means arriving 20 or 30 minutes before the departure time

While the price is high, the quality of the meal in combination with the memories of your relaxing experience viewing the picturesque canals on a small boat makes everything worth it. Since we were a group of three, we were assigned the large table at the very end of the boat. This was ideal. The entire back was completely open to the outside making this area the best place for viewing in my opinion. So naturally, if you want to take a lot of pictures, it would be ideal for you to go with three or four people. You will not get to hear the informative narration from the captain like the people who sit towards the front, but I think this is better if you just want to view the scenery in relaxation. The server told us that if it became too cold, we could always close off the entire back with a clear curtain. But this was not necessary as the outside temperature was just right even as the sun began to set.

The cruise is about 2 1/2 hours and I appreciated this because you start when it is still daylight and as the cruise approaches its conclusion, it is beautiful at night with all the canal lights. So you get a daytime and a nighttime experience all on one cruise. Brilliant!

The cuisine that was brought on board did not disappoint. I felt that with the finger food, appetizer, entrée and dessert, that this was the caliber of a fine dining restaurant. There was also an additional menu with cocktails, beers and wines at reasonable prices. We opted for a bottle of Bordeaux that turned out to be a great choice.

The boat was completely full and everyone was well dressed. One man proposed to his fiancé and everyone in general seemed like they were happy. The advantage with Jewel Cruises compared to other Amsterdam dinner cruises is that it is a much smaller antique ship. This makes the service more personal compared to a larger boat that packs in a lot of people with lesser quality food. Also, the voyage is of ample duration so the whole experience does not feel rushed. Be sure you book your cruise as far in advance as possible. While the price might seem high, it is worth every cent it if you consider that you are not just eating a meal, but having the most picturesque, happy and relaxing dinner cruise experience in the world. The memories you gain will last a lifetime.

My last review over my dissatisfaction with this service provider was removed by Tripadvisor because this provider had claimed it was "fraud". Are we not able to post negative reviews, when we experience negative service? This adds to my dissatisfaction with the service we received from AJC.

We did the dinner cruise with this company. It started around 7:30 pm. The food was good. It was lovely to look at all the buildings from the canals. It was a peaceful and romantic experience.

Absolutely loved this dinner cruise on the canals of Amsterdam. The captain and hostess were very friendly and the food was good, but quietly cruising along the canals and the spectacular views were by far the best. This is one of my best travel memories and there is no doubt that I would go again.
