“Phenominal”
Reviewed 5 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

This is, by some distance, the best guest house I've ever been to, or even heard about. The flat's quality is on par with what I would expect to find in a five star hotel and Liddy's personal touches and excellent service really does make this an exceptional place. In addition to the flat, the surrounding neighbourhood is fantastic - we went to Elsa's on our first night, which is a "must go to" place if you visit, but there at least three excellent restaurants all in walking distance and it's only fifteen minutes into town.

The best aspect however, was the price - amazing value for money! A comparable suite in a hotel would easily fetch £350 per night back home in London. She could easily charge more, but bizarrely choses not to.

Without doubt, the best I've ever seen.

“A wonderful stay!”

We just returned from a two-week stay in Amsterdam at Linnaeussuite. It was perfect for our purposes, and I recommend it almost without reservations. This lovely, sunny apartment is located in the equally lovely Watergraafsmeer area of Amsterdam, just a bit east and south of the central district. The #9 tram, which goes to the center, is a block from the door and runs so frequently we never had to wait more than a few minutes, even later at night. A grocery store is directly across the street from the tram stop; on the other side of the street is the beautiful Frankendael Park. The suite itself is on a little hof--a street fitted into the interior of the block. The brick row houses of the hof were built around a church. The king-sized bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was truly marvelous. We had plenty of room to sit around and plan our next days' activities. The closet mini-kitchen was perfect for making coffee and oatmeal for breakfast. The roof garden is great and has a wonderful view. The weather was quite nice, but it got chilly at night, and the heat worked silently and efficiently. (The only drawback for some visitors might be the three flights of stairs you must climb to the suite. This was no problem for us, but anyone with limited mobility would not be able to stay here.) Lidy, who lives in the other half of the house, was always available if we needed anything, but respected our privacy and was in all ways a delightful host. We were very happy that we chose to stay here and not in the center. Amsterdam is quite small, and we easily traveled everywhere we wanted to go from this location. However, we were spared the constant crush of humanity and noise of the central area. In addition to the grocery store, the neighborhood has everything you might need, including a Hema department store and several very good restaurants and cafes. (A tip: we got a bit lost after we got off the tram and were looking for the address for the first time, because I thought I knew how to get there and did not bring the map or directions. When you get off the tram, cross the street toward the Volmar grocery store and keep walking in the same direction the tram was going. In less than half a block, you will reach the turning for Linnaeushof.)

“If your visiting Amsterdam look no further than this great Apartment”

Fantastic apartment with all mod cons. close to bus, tram and network rail station. Lidy was always approachable but careful to respect your privacy. The bath is a great way to relax after a day at museums, zoo or cruising the canals. It is one of several great features throughout the apartment. A king size bed, a great shower and a rooftop balcony to name but a few of the other first class facilities.
A small larder with a nespresso machine and copious amounts of tea bags along with a toaster, fridge and kettle can cater for your basic needs. Lidy supplies you with a helpful manual on arrival that details local shops and amenities that we found invaluable. Cafe 1900 for a salami and cheese toastie at breakfast was a firm favourite.
We also found the apartment handy for transport links to further afield such as Rotterdam, Utrecht and Volendam.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to my friends and hopefully can find time to visit it again in the future.
5 stars is seldom deserved but this apartment is one exception.
Fantastic!!

“Wonderful apartment in lovely quiet neighbourhood.”

We stayed at the apartment for four nights and loved everything about it. Highlights were the amazing bathroom with wonderful products and amenities provided, the Nespresso coffee machine, wonderfully comfortable king-sized bed and the outside balcony and roof terrace.
Other thoughtful touches were the welcome bottle of bubbles, hairdryer, iron, films, books and useful information on the surrounding area.
The balcony was a great place to relax having breakfast with the sun shining and the upstairs terrace was a great place to relax late in the afternoon.
Thanks Lidy, we hope to come back again soon!

“Delightful accommodation in quiet area”
Reviewed 26 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

From the time we first made contact with the host, which was ten months prior to our travels, we received prompt acknowledgement and receipt of our stay. Any questions we had about our stay & the accommodation were answered to our satisfaction. The host was there to greet us at the pre-arranged time and showed us how everything in the apartment worked.
Within 24 hours we were used to the church bells and they added a village feel to the apartment. Access to the downtown area by tram was very easy; supermarket nearby & an ice cream shop met our needs. Plenty of dining options in the area also. In summary, a clean, comfortable apartment , delightful host and great location if you want to be just out of the centre of the downtown area

“Amazing location and awesome service”
Reviewed 13 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

I am at the suite right now and have to say how amazing it is! We arrived yesterday and were greeted by Lidy, who checked us in, gave us a tour of the rooms, and provided us with additional information about the city. Shortly thereafter, a took a very comfortable 16 hour nap in the luxurious bedroom which features a sitting area, king sized bed, and closet. The bathroom is quite nice as well. Right around the corner from the suite there is a grocery store, and we purchased some goods and had a refrigerator at the suite to put them in as well as a toaster and nespresso- capsules included! The living room has a DVD player along with a plethora of movies to watch. There is a balcony which has steps leaving up to the rooftop sitting area. The location of the suite is perfect because it is not right in the city, so it is quiet, but everything is still in walking distance. I highly recommend this for your stay and will come back of I am to come to amsterdam again!

“Wonderful apartment in a great location with a delightful host”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

The apartment was lovely - clean, light and spacious and such a comfortable large bed. Lidy was very welcoming and really helpful with advice on what to visit. The Nespresso coffee was so delicious. The neighbourhood was nice and quiet but so convenient for the tram stop, cash machine, many shops and bicycle hire. I would highly recommend this apartment.
