“Everything is different here (as a Coffeeshop)”

Traveling along the peaceful western canals of the Yordan district, specifically on the west side of "The 9 Street District" - is one of my favorite strolls in this city. For a relaxed, quiet and happy break, point yourself to this specific coffeeshop, whether you're fund of his side of the counter or the other...As coffeeshops slowly decayed into sleezy drug-tourism magnets, the places in mid-town turned to be dark, bad-serviced and the last places you would pick for your next stop. La Tertulia is quit the opposite! It is a sunny, beautifully decorated, home-like place with smiling faces to cater you, splendid cakes (normal!) with your tea or coffee and one of the best locations to have your canal-spotting (city's major leisure time activity).

“Very chilled, welcoming coffeeshop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 October 2013

We stumbled upon this place while cycling the back streets and canals. It's on a corner block, next to a leafy street overlooking the canal in the Jordaan district, a trendy, artists area of Amsterdam. The whole coffee shop has a great vibe, very green with an overhanging tree growing out of the side of the building and lots of plants inside.

The menu is great and all the produce is organically grown, it's not overpriced and there's a good selection - I didn't eat lunch there but I had the brownies and they were amazing. This place is in stark contrast to a lot of the crappy or more commercial coffeeshops in Amsterdam who play loud annoying europop music and generally don't want you to hang around for long - La Tertulia is clean, light, airy and the music is chilled.

Good for couples, or more laid back customers. This is my new favourite, will definitely go back.

“Nothing special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 October 2013 via mobile

I must say that we are absolut beginners and I don't have comparisons. But the service was non existing. To go to the cashier order what you want and that's it. The ladies were not specially friendly actually they didn't talk at all.

“Relaxing coffeeshop/cafe next to canal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2013

Much more of a relaxed local feel to this place. Its run by a mother and daughter who make fresh food, I only had a toastys for 3 euros which were tasty. Reggae was playing in the background and lots of plants/flowers inside, it was too hot inside so always sat outside (it was abnormally hot in Amsterdam). Good priced bud menu and they do smaller qtys than grams, 0.6 of decent Bubble Ice-o-lator which I recommend is 12 euros which sounds expensive but would be double that in a touristy coffeeshop. It opens at 11am and shuts early at 7pm. Was usually my first stop after visiting coffeeshop johnny round the corner for a takeaway. It was lovely sitting in the sunshine by the canal watching the world go by.

“Nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2013

Really nice little coffee shop with good selection of smokes and shnacks.
Its not in the middle of everything else so its quiet and you can generally avaoid all the loud obnoxious stag do's. 6 euros for homemade brownies, 3 or 4 euros for a pre rolled joint depending on your prefrence. Good milkshakes.

Closes at 7pm and is not open sundays & mondays.
