“A find near the historic center”
Reviewed 18 June 2013

We enjoyed B&B La Festa. The location is excellent. The historic center is accessible by foot. There is an adjoining Italian restaurant with an Italian chef who is really wonderful. Bjorn greeted us upon arrival and took care of the paperwork in the restaurant. The room was up 2 flights of stairs and he helped us with our bags. The room, in the Dutch contemporary style, was minimalist, efficient, clean and functional. The balcony is an added bonus in warm weather. This place is a great value and we enjoyed our stay.

B&B La Festa was a very convenient place to stay during our last stay in Amsterdam. It is very easy to get around the centre from Amsterdam from here. We chose the studio because we wanted to make our breakfasts in the morning and it worked out very well. We had everything we needed. Bjorn was very helpful in providing us a map, making reservations, printing our boarding passes, etc. Nothing was too much for him. We also enjoyed the food in the restaurant downstairs. Just one thing, the room is a lot smaller than what it looks like on the pictures. But everything is very clean and works well, including the Internet.

Recently we stayed at this wonderful gem in the Jordaan area of Amsterdam. Little did we know until three days later what a great location it was, a super value, and what friendly hosts we would experience. We arrived early in the day and were thankful that we could store our luggage in the unopened restaurant downstairs until our room was available. The B&B is above a quaint pizzeria and the rooms were very nice. We stayed in a contemporary studio apartment that had a small back porch which was a welcome site to my smoking husband. The rooms were very clean and Aydan was a fantastic host. We had a few small problems (one with the safe that was entirely my fault and one day we didn't have hot water) that were rectified immediately in a friendly manner. Breakfast was extra at $10 a person but it was enough food for breakfast and lunch (or breakfast a second day!) but we are not big eaters. We also ate at the pizzeria one evening discovering that the pizza was good and the portions so large we again had leftovers.

Room Tip: Walking in Amsterdam and a canal ride are a must! On the canal ride we found out that our B&B w...

We stayed 2 nights and arrived soaking wet from the Amsterdam Central Train Station, but Mr Aydin was very gracious and invited us into his restaurant to take care of the paperwork and credit card payment even though we were dripping wet from the rain. Room was clean and modern, and there were 2 umbrellas in the room that we could borrow. He even made us 2 cups of hot coffee (which was complimentary).

The drain in the shower was slow draining and after letting Mr Aydin know about it the next morning, it was taken care of by the time we got back that evening.

They could help to book tickets to museums to skip the lines, which we should have requested since we had to wait about an hour to Van Gogh Museum for walk-ins.

Checkout was just as quick when we returned the 2 electronic keys to Bjorn, and he also gave us the direction to the Marnixstraat Bus Depot (about 3 minutes walk) to take bus 197 (4 euro) to the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

There was a laundry shop directly across the street that we utilized to drop our bag of dirty clothes in the morning and was able to pick it up after 4pm that afternoon (they closed at 6pm) for 9 euro (2 kg).

Overall, very convenient location to everything and friendly hosts.

A pleasant 20 minute sunset walk from Amsterdam Centrum Station to a quiet street and the Festa B&B. The room was not as large as some hotels but then as there is a major trade show on hotels are charging fortunes.
The room is fastidiously tidy, clean well laid out and decorated in a contemporary style. A small but well stocked mini bar was realistically priced and welcome as most bars in the area shut early on a Monday.
The linen and the bed were of the highest quality too and the TV even had BBC channels to boot!
Heartily recommend this as an alternative to most of Amsterdam's hotels.

I already wrote a review in Hotels.com, but I just wanted other travelers to know what an awesome stay we had at this B&B. The hosts are very gracious and helpful. The room we stayed at was very clean and had all the amenities we needed including an umbrella! The neighborhood was cute and quiet but only a stone's throw away from the major attractions. The Leidseplein can be reached on foot in ten minutes. The trams and buses are a few feet away from the hotel, and it can take you to the central station in ten minutes. They also leave every 5 minutes or so. We never had to wait more than that. There is a cute bakery at the corner and a grocery store a block away. We are coming back to stay at B&B again for sure. Thank you Bjorn and Aydan (did I spell that right?)

Such a wonderful experience, great service! We felt like we could live there as the apartment was so comfortable with a cute kitchen and balcony. I requested a gluten-free vegetarian breakfast and they were able to put together an amazing breakfast for me with my dietary restrictions. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the city.

Dear Jami,

Thank you for your nice review.

To be honest, we don't want everyone to live here. It would become a bit packed at the end. But everybody is welcome to stay with us for a few days.

And as you said, we can also make breakfasts suitable for various diets (vegetarian, gluten-free, etc)
