The staff are very friendly but it is a tourist trap in the summer. The food varies from good to horrible. The "Rembrandt " burger is nice but the chicken burger is foul. Steaks are very expensive. The location is great though. Lovely view.

Just arrived after an 8 hour train trip, went for a walk, thought I'd found a decent "non-tourist" cafe. Not so. As my first meal in Amsterdam it was not only disappointing, it was downright inedible.

Ordered a chicken burger. Two days before, in Berlin, did the same, and what arrived was... beautiful grilled chicken breast. For about 6 euro. What arrived here for 13 euro? A manufactured supermarket "chicken flavoured" processed meat "thing", limp salad, no dressing and stale bread roll.

Simply couldn't eat it - and keep in mind I hadn't eaten by that stage for over 10 hours.

Enjoy the view. Have a drink. Just don't eat. An absolute disgrace.

Food is awful
Lots of pepper that my kids could not handle even aftershave asking for non spicy dishes
Avoid for other than a beer or coffee outside

We ate here 3 nights in a row because we simply loved watching all the canal and street activity in front of us. It is a beautiful location and the staff is very nice. We highly recommend the pea soup, the fish and chips, the white beer, and the bread basket---which comes with this extremely delicious olive tapenade! It is so pleasant and relaxing to sit outside on a summer evening and eat, drink, and chat.
