I visited the Sharm Hotel with my fiance for a weekend city break and personally thought it was excellent value. We were slightly caught out arriving, we had a nightmare travel due to the french air strike and the journey to Amsterdam was not pleasant although this was no fault of the hotel. We arrived in the middle of the night ( a lot later than expected ) but none the less the owner stayed up to greet us with a warm welcome.
The only thing that thew me when arriving was we were asked for payment, which was a little confusing as we thought we had paid online already! so be careful of that.
The rooms are small and very basic, but to me a city break is when you are out exploring! This was literally some where to sleep and wash! The room was cleaned daily and there was no noise despite being right outside of reception.
The hotel stairs are a fitness challenge, but I think this is just typical of the building styles here,I wouldn't recommend for anyone who inst easily mobile!
If your looking for luxury this is not for you, just a perfect place to rest
The location of the hotel is brilliant, just a few minutes from Dam Square so everything is on your door step, many hotels for Amsterdam require tram journeys so this was brilliant.
Overall for the location it could not be better value for money, if you are just looking for somewhere to sleep and get ready and spend your time out exploring what more could you want?
There were two gentleman that I saw whom worked there, both lovely and polite!
If I was to return to Amsterdam, I would definitely stay here again.
