We flew to Schipol & got the train to Amsterdam Central (€4.50 each single). Buy the ticket on the station concourse - the platform for Central is notified by signs on the concourse - you cant miss it. On arrival at Central we bought a 3 day Tram/Bus/Metro ticket for €16 each from the Information Office across the road (they'll direct you where to get your tram from in excellent spoken English) - the Tram 5 or 24 goes to Apollolaan (about 20 mins - driver will tell you when you're there if the announcements on board arent working). Get off tram & go left down Apollolaan approx 300 metres & you'll see hotel on left when you get to the main junction. We were unaware of a hotel shuttle bus but it doesnt work on weekends anyway. Public transport is much more fun!!!! I've given full directions cos i felt they were lacking on previous reviews and found it difficult to contact the hotel. The Hotel is stunning. Room was fantastic and we got the upper floor room over looking the canals as requested. You need a CREDIT card not a debit card when you check in because they charge €200 to it which they put straight back on at the end of your stay if you havent charged anything to your room during your stay. I didnt see this as an inconvienience - quite normal. Hotel room was peaceful, had temperature control, immaculate wifi connection (code given to us on check in), thick dark curtains, TV which got BBC1 no problem, all mod cons, great shower/bathroom and above all - a very comfy bed. The free safe was a bonus. Staff were all friendly. Had a drink in the bar on arrival but that was the only one as we felt it was a bit pricey. We walked each evening the 20 min walk to the Leidesplein where there were lots of bars/restaurants - one in particular which i must mention is BOJO's - a quaint Indonesian Restaurant which give a no rush, relaxed evening with value for money food - lots of specials boards and nice wine!! Recommended!!! The staff on reception at the hotel were happy to give maps & directions and were very helpful. On checkout you will be charged Visitor Tax (3 nights, 2 people €12) - you've been warned. Overall, this was a modern, contemporary decor hotel - perfectly located slightly out of town but perfect for tram links or nice walks to the thick of it. I would 100% recommend this hotel for value, location and comfort.
